I don't mean they are made FOR demon hunters, I mean people usually get them to look LIKE Demon Hunters or to act as this stereotype they are portrayed as, which, either way is misdone on this server, I thought you could just .add rp glaives anyway.

Sadly, no. Glaives can only be given by a GM, or if lucky, found in the wild OOCly.
Also. Tauren are not the only ones who use Totems, they are simply the only ones to build massive ones. All shaman use totems, including Draenei, Troll, and Orc.
By the way. If these items are for RP use only, then we might as well take off the Damage and level requirement, and do the same as we did for the back mounted bows and guns, eh?

This has my vote, cuts back on the drama when their freely available. I say go for it. I mean, fighting with Glaives are hard, really hard, but if people want to use and practice / fight with them.. be my guest. Their just another weapon. As for the Totems.. I believed all shamans used them, and it'd be a nice addition, though I admittedly own no shamans.

(Drama as in some people having the item, the other half of the server wanting the item. Exaggeration, but true enough. )

I actually thought of writing this with other weapon suggestions to Kret, but never got around to it. I also forgot the other weapons. ;>

I see no issue with this. I wouldn't mind the race/class restriction on totems, however, as I doubt your average human could carry it. As for glaives, nothing about them is what makes the Demon Hunter special. They just use glaives because they are unimaginably effective. The only issue with them is, it leaves the user wide open for attack, which is why constant motion is necessary. I say, if a Night Elf, or anyone else, wants to use them, be my guest. Just learn to use them propwrly via IC training.

.. As far as I know, the only race that really uses totems is the Tauren. Why? Because they're the only race really big enough to effectively wield them, save the Draenei. And the Draenei's culture is not like the Tauren's. It would really be oddball for a Draenei to be fighting with a big ol' glorified tree trunk, but an average sight when it comes to Tauren. Concerning culture, totems are not really involved with Troll or Orc culture either.

And when Dwarves and Goblins get them too... it wouldn't really make sense there either.

I actually believe Kretol has been planning to implement something like this, when he gets the time. As for totems I would imagine that they would keep their current race only tags, thus only Tauren could use them.

...Can't remember if there's another weapon limited like that. Don't believe there is.

Also as it was mentioned the only thing I'm personally wary about is someone getting glaives and adding the blindfold and running around, but meh. We'll have to see how often that happens.

Another weapon that might be limited would prolly be the Night Elf Tri-bladed glaive, if Kret re-added it to the Database after the Core Switch.

You know, the one Sentinels use.

But yeah. I do support the idea as far as the not-really-incredibly-rare custom items go. That means that flaming DH glaives or Round Glaives(Moon Swords), which are incredibly rare IC, and restricted to Prestiges, would prolly be out of the question, in my opinion, as burning glaives are generally limited to Demon Hunters, and Moon Swords to Wardens.

Aphetoros you are a genius. Glaives would be epic! Other things which could be cool is pistol swords which actually look like they could cut. There are many guns at level 70 plus that could be good. The only problem is they are HUGE so I'm slightly hesitent to say add them, anyway. Glaives, also like the Blood Elf Guards, and if you do add these items then please add the blood elf guard shield because wow is in lack of wall shields.

Also, due to the fact that WoWhead has Cataclysm afied it's self, it means its hard to find oldskool items such as un matching shoulderpads. Though if we do update it means we'll get new cata unmatching shoulderpads so that would be cool. Or viels which appear out of the blue in cata.. wow is also in lack of viels.

I agree with this idea, but I think we should have racial restrictions on some of those items.

And... I'm not so sure if we should have those shields. Traditionally, they're used by Spellbreakers and Silvermoon guards.

Afraid that shield is actually part of a model either way, so it would be unpossible.

Though, I do believe things such as the tri-glaive should have a restriction- I wouldn't reach as far as to say all the glaives, though- I like to think people won't grab the weapon just for laffs n' bling.

There are already hundreds of weapons that player's "Shouldn't really have" on .add RP, and I've yet to see them badly, or widely abused. I can't suddenly see it happening if it were simplified to a vendor, so i'm all for it

I don't think there is a race only tag.

Edit: Usually that's handled by reputation. Meaning, if a person grinds enough with a certain rep, they could get whatever weapon they please, or mount.

There is, actually- I know for a fact its on the Tauren totem, and I believe Kret made an Orc only sword as well.

Hmm. Even then, I think it's good to have this regulated since I'm sure every tauren would have a totem, and every elf a glaive. Too bad you can't make it gender specific, because it'd be odd seeing a guy elf with a big ol' glaive for no reason.
