Custom Weapon Vendor!
#31
I'm not certain a totem would be on there (I'm not certain what would be on there period, since Kretol has the list of items), but if/when this is implemented I would expect an influx of people with glaives, indeed. Not much to do, really- It actually is a common weapon for Blood Elves and Night Elves, and all. I'm guessing after they're out for a while the interest would die down, similar to the back mounted guns and bows.

And actually there really would be some use for gender specific tags, since there's some custom equipment that only appears on one gender and not the other :B

I don't know about you guys, but if that Blood Elf glaive that the guards use was added, I would be a very happy Blood Knight. /nod

I support this.

As a note, moonglaives (the actual name for tri-glaives) are an exceedingly common weapon for Night Elves to use, so if they were to be available and suddenly all night elves picked them up, it wouldn't actually be breaking lore at all. Warglaives (demon hunter glaives) are less common in that way, however, but some sentinels do use them. Just look at the Lunar Festival and Cenarion sentinels.

Perhaps just restrict them to make them night elf only. I don't think there's really any other restrictions that need to be put in place.

Suppose a human kills a Nelf weilding one and wants to use it for himself.
Then what?

I support this.

Last time I checked, that was part of the actual character model, and not a separate weapon model...sadly. It'd be pretty awesome to have that weapon and shield that they have.
Don't be offended by my avatar. It's not intended to be a handicap sticker, but a man with a gigantic butt.

Fairly exotic weapon, would take a good deal of training to be proficient in it, which in turn would take a good deal of time.

Compare training for prestige system.

/shrug.

I don't think it would be as difficult as you portray it. The two greatest difficulties I see are...

1- A Night Elf carried them. They are obviously heavy. And I don't think a human could effectively carry a 6-foot blade, and be combat-ready.

2- The only hard thing about learning to wield them, is learning to weild the second glaive. One is surprisingly easy. It's the change in combat style that comes with the second that is hard, as two leaves you inevitably wide open for any attack from any angle. The endurance required, therefore, to keep moving constantly at a fairly high rate of speed is the difficulty.

They are exotic weapons. They're not intuitive in the same way that, say, a sword or an axe is. You would have to train with it before you could really use it IC. The weight isn't balanced in the same way, so you might have trouble keeping in stable in your hand, and in the case of moonglaives, you would have to figure out how to twirl the thing so that you're actually dealing damage with it properly.

Besides, how often do people really pick up enemies' weapons IC? I've never seen it happen, really.

Well, I'd personally assume, if a human or so, liked to learn about ancient weapons, and so forth. Like I do, I'd want to create a war glaive, and probably learn to use it. Just because they're so badass, I'm sure icly there's people that would think the same.

This is the basis on which we acquire all our weapons, OOC, other than blacksmithing and such, so its fairly plausible for adventurer's IC to kill something and go "Oooh, shiny, i'm having that." *Swings a glaive around*

I know to master a weapon takes years, but not every warrior in the game has to be a master of their art, and most would be able to figure out at least how to use the weapon by the basics, if not as well as its original owner.

Also, If my characters incapacitate someone, I loot them of anything like this, its quite good for being able to further the rp, if they want the items back.

Agreed, I don't really think we need a night-elf only restrictions (Or gender ones for that matter). Anyone can pick up the weapon and swing it, though it takes training to be any good and effective at it. I've actually simply looted my opponents before on Niarrin, and plan to do so more in any future fights I survive.

Or maybe the guy just wants to carry it around so he can sell it in the nearest town, but seeing the restriction he can't even pick it up. And people will use that restriction to say "Hey! That's a night elf only weapon, you can not even carry it!"

So! I'm in favour for no restrictions whatsoever, if we do see a gigantic influx.. It will pass. I know Niarrin my night elf won't be switching to a glaive, simply because she has two battle ready scimitars. As sentinel, she's trained to use a glaive but.. Don't fix what ain't broken.

As for that, it'd be great but the weapon is part of the model so unable to actually be put in game. ^^ Nothing that can be done about it sadly. (To my knowledge at least.)

Does it really matter what you use? I mean, you swing a weapon and something falls down, you've done a good job. I just know...I know, that all of a sudden I'm going to be seeing "Masterfully Skilled Semi-Demon Hunters with their matrix skills" or "Gnome with Totem, overcompensation" And before you say I'm cynical...think for a moment...am I really that wrong?

Wrong? No, perhaps exaggerating. If the worst comes to show, we have our awesome GM team to take care of it, no?

I mean, they do keep their eyes open and make sure that stuff like that is handled properly. It would be silly to give nobody apart from elves the chance to use the weapons (Or Tauren with totems for that matter), just because a minor group can not behave. ^^

Though, as far as the Totems go. If Tauren are the only ones really using the totems, then it would make sense. The glaives are just another weapon.
