Quote:Well, I personally never pointed fingers. For me... if they like having a discussion about who is more right and who needs to shut up creating a huge wall-o-text, then by all means I just leave as soon as I see it coming and stay out of range.

Then why complain about it happening on a public forum?

Quote:I guess I should start pointing fingers, because as 2 or even 3 people now said that they DO NOT see drama or negativity.

Perhaps you should, as it has to start somewhere.

People, reporting this sort of stuff is good. It betters the server. You are not a snitch. You are not bound by blood to anyone. Start reporting crap.

Because I am trying to reason with them while they're out of game and not causing a scene. But forget it... I guess I'll just go to being the horrible person that I am and report every single outburst till everyone is scared to open their mouth infront of me.

And that was being a bit sarcastic. But done... No more ignoring from me.

From what I've noticed, the majority of Booty Bay roleplayers don't go on the Forums.

Well, you can't blame me for not trying to be a reasonable person now. I was only trying to be a good person by giving a chance to reason with those who feel the itch to cause scenes.

From this point on it's their loss if they don't read it or think about what they do.

Great advice, if you don't know any GMs by name then just open a ticket. If it's anything like a Bronze Token request they'll be there instantaneous. This is our CotH, we got to fight for it sometimes.

I left for about a year due to moving around between states. I now have a wonderful house and came back to CotH. A couple people I knew then are GMs now, but the rest of them are gone. The number one rule then is the same now: Respect.

Do you think we're going to banhammer everyone who starts a tiff in an OOC discussion? Or tell them "AISHA WAS TELLING ME YOU WERE BEING NAUGHTY!"?

If it breaks the rules, report it. No one's going to get beaten or banned unless they seriously deserve it.

Guys, GMs aren't freaking scary, power abusing megalomaniacs who tell people who reported them and ban people for getting passionate about something in an OOC discussion. Can they get banned for that? Yes, if they've done it waaaay too frequently, or broke several other rules in the process.

There is only one insta-ban offense.

Quote:Any racist, sexist, or other derogatory OOC chat will lead to disciplinary action, which can include banning. There will be no warnings issued.

I just had a single comment I wanted to make regarding this:

Quote:Because a GM once said, regarding STV RP that it's an individual that can move the RP. I do not agree. An individual is weak and can not achieve what can be achieved when working together like a team, like a community that we are.

Many feel that they cannot create RP in a different zone. I disagree with each and every single one of them. I think most people just don't try hard enough to start RP in a different zone. Sometimes it takes more than "LF RP in Duskwood. Join me!" Other times a simple LFG notice will work. Either way an individual is not 'weak' nor is any singular person incapable of starting RP. Most simply just resort to the same tactic or give up quickly.

The community part comes in when you get a group together to RP in that same place frequently. Then you end up building a new RP hotspot. Ask yourself, where was RP before Booty Bay? I remember at one point Stormwind and Alliance RP was big. I remember Ratchet having multiple cycles. Ashenvale Nelf Rp still makes it way through every other week. At one point all the good guys were in the Crater and the evil in the Catacombs. We've had multiple arena cultures, Ratchet Arena and Gurubashi.

How did each of these start up? Someone was like 'I want to rp here today' or 'I want to have this kind of rp!' Then after a bit of asking around and persistence found some players to go along with it. The group of them found it fun and more players, seeing activity in that zone, joined in. Last but not least, the zone became a hotspot.

Get a few people on GM island to RP in Ratchet for like a week and hold a few open events. Watch how quickly the numbers rise there daily.

I agree with Duraza. One of my recent RP trips was totally random. There was four or five of us chillin' at GM Island and we wanted to RP. We each picked a zone assigned it to a number, 1-5. We all rolled and we got two 2s, two 3s and one 5. I ended up winning the tie-breaker and we were headed to Loch Modan (random I know). We went hunting for a Thressadon (Nessy) for it's brains for some medical salve. I had my Fishadin, there was a dwarven fisher, Pops the Mage with explosives, a warrior with a spear-gun and a dreanei who needed the brains. We eventually got a boat from a NCP, and got to a fight scene. We threw dynamite, nets, spears, arcane missles, plain fish, lightning bolts, holy shock and some fish stuffed with dynamite at it. It's attacks were tidal waves and grabbing one of us from the boat.

Point - It was totally random and a lot of fun.

Ashley! I remember you, my once so favourite rogue who I admittedly haven't seen in a long time. Oh my oh my, the memories.. Not sure which character of mine was after yours, but I can certainly remember it being fun. A lot of fun.

First off, I think you've stated your opinion quite nicely and certainly have been heard, and you certainly put some things forward I've had on my mind as well. (Or had, as in four weeks ago seeing I haven't been online since. Well, maybe once.)

Quote: It's because that I have become distant and closed from the community lurking in the shadows. Yes, I admit it and that makes me a horrible person, but alas it was the only way I saw fit to close myself away from the drama.

While solitude is at times very fitting, it also creates a form of lonelyness. Communityless, which makes the hardships of drama and trouble feel twice as heavy on your shoulders. Sharing it with others, gives the ability to breathe and shrug it off, and in a sense you shared it with this post. Perhaps it had felt less heavy if you had spoken about it earlier, but what's happened has happened. ^.~

Quote:I myself experienced some of the "better" aspects of new people; such as being publically told to f**k off via LFG for suggesting to leave STV for some SW or Elwynn RP

Feel free to report those people with screenshots and chat logs (Elephant addon is great for logging things) and they'll be sorted out. Perhaps they got annoyed that people always suggest to them to move, when they truly like the place, but on the other hand, respect should be in place despite being annoyed.

Quote:You know what I am talking about, don't you? I know you've been reading about it and I know you've noticed people leave for there. However, I myself don't see it as a rival,

I to saw them as rivals, however, I've asked Kret what he thought. It basically came down to, that the people who left had already been thinking of leaving for a while. Sure some interest has been sparked by others, and it's a pain to see friends leave, but for some (Like me) CotH always stays the #1 place. ^^ So as for rivalry, I don't think the two games are comparable due to both having a entirely different system. Yes, they are both for RP.. But they both offer RP in a new aspect. It's like cheese made out of cow milk, and the other out of goat milk. They are both cheese, but taste entirely different.

Quote:Mind you, it has been asked of us not to police chats and leave it for a GM, but if you honestly have that itch to do it or if there is not GM around, then please, please, please be RESPECTFUL.

Report is once again your friend, there are rules in place which people should follow at all times. I'm glad people can't police the chat channels anymore, but those who do seem to have missed a rule. ;3 It's understandable, but /leave Chat is much simpler then "HEY, KNOCK IT OFF." because in the end, it gives no drama. (Or much less then telling people to knock it off, or move elsewhere.)

Quote:Learn to forgive and remember that you can always walk away and /ignore.

There's no shame in walking away! Also, quoted again because I've felt like the place has perhaps been lacking it for a while.

Quote:Learn to forgive

It's a game, yes drama occurs in this game, but it occurs for as far as you let it in. If you get a wall of text over you, with rants and what not.. What's preventing you from shrugging it off, and either walk away, or say you'd rather discuss it upon a new day when things calmed down? From what I saw weeks back, people try to stop the fight in the heat of battle. Just let things settle, take a breath, get a drink and come back. ^.~

Quote:Along with this the quality of RP has severly fallen due to TEATIME IN STV! At the Meet n' Greet a lot of people agreed that STV needs to GTFO, but there is still nothing being done or not being done enough.

I'm not sure what to say regarding that, other that I have plans for getting it out of STV and elsewhere the moment I'm back. If I can organize Dwarven RP in a keep with 6+ dwarves, I can surely beat a little town. *Confident nod*

Quote:Give a little love and it all comes back to you. Basically - karma and oh so very true.

Nice little touch. ^.^

Also, finding Nostra's post I do have to agree on;

Quote:Sorry if I go off here, but seriously? It's just silly trying to bring back some past that, in truth, you only remember the best parts of. It's only human, but we have to keep it in mind.

The past is the past, and you alone can shape the future.

Edit: Also!

I love those events! It always comes out with what you least expect. Thinking of writing a guide for random RP next. ;> /roll is your friend!

I believe someone posted a similar thing around six months back, or maybe even before, at the summer, at what was called a "vast wave of Nubs" which was the nickname for the large amount of new players the Summertimes attract to us every year, and the Reset helped a bit too with that. Sure, not all new members of the server are top-class fantasy writers, poets, actors or just RPers. Sure not all of them really paid attention to WoW Lore, and the CotH Lore. But that's what -we- are here for, as more veteran players. We're here to help them -in- to our community. If you see Drama? remind them politely about it. If you cannot stop the -source- of the drama, help those who keep feeding that flame, and remind them what is the server's protocol regarding proper management of OOC Drama, and if case needed, remind them, -politely-, of the rules.

Links to these pages that are in the Wiki, are found here:

Rules
How to Avoid OOC Drama
What to Do About OOC Drama
Consequences of OOC Drama
Chat Policies

Another fun thing that I enjoy using as a counter-Drama and OOC walls of text, is leaving that specific OOC channel. Nothing will happen if you are not in General, Chat, Barrens, or any other channel. Another good idea is to seperate the IC chatlines, with the OOC ones, by creating two chat windows. That can be done by editing the settings of chat windows, and creating additional ones. You don't even need an addon for that. I, for example, have my Guild Chat and Whispers in a seperate window, so I won't lose anything said there in walls of spam or IC chatter.

You know, I have a variant of this argument to bring up. I can say, without question, that I've lost most of my CotH friends lately, as well as the near-entirety of my evil buddies. See, evil is my specialty. What's left of the "Evil Powerhouse" possible RP-generators are myself, Mistal and Redisnub (Sozun, too, but I rarely see him anymore.). We have our own rag-tag group of part-time evil-doers, but outside of that small handful (which I can count on my hands), we're dying. An integral part of CotH RP (good-evil fighting used to be huge) is nearly gone. As a community, I truly believe we need to fix this. It isn't that I'm not willing to run evil events, it's that nobody seems interested in taking part. An example: I recently (yesterday) dug up an old guild of mine, and have begun a process of reviving it. The group is -very slightly- leaning toward evil, and it seems that because of that, nobody, save a select few, seemed willing to try it.

I can vouch for how big the Evil vs Good thing used to be, by the example I participated most on, House of Autumn vs Heretic Circus.

Heretic Circus! Woooh!

Good times, good times. Back when Saraya was still somebody, my second character on the server but biggest love. That guild was something, truly.

Either way, I'm not sure where the lack of evil comes from. Perhaps because evil doesn't really do anything, or moves anywhere? I can't say really. Back in those days, it looked like Good was always ready to smash Evil whatever they tried, wherever they went, so it might be the aftermath of that?

It'll all come back near the summer, when people get more spare time. The time between Easter and Summer is basically reserved for finals.

Back in MY day the good versus evil...

Anyway, yeah. Summer is actually when that all happened. Sozun's got stuff planned for Anna to screw up. Don't worry guys!
