Your Favorite Character [To Roleplay]
#16
Out of 4 accounts of almost 40 characters, I have several recurring favorites. Listed are my tops in order.

1.) Kapre. Even when I don't RP and my periods of boredom with him (yes, it happens), he's still in my mind and still always the one I try to think of new ideas to get RP out of him. What can I say? Of all my characters, he has the highest accessibility to any kind of situation in RP--comedy, drama, combat, adventure, story, casual, and so forth. He is also the most developed of my WoW-exclusive characters, and, in my impression, the most playerbase-loved ("DON'T KILL KAPRE! D:" ). I had originally intended to have him killed by Cataclsym--he wasn't to survive one of the major disasters. However, he now has a family and business to care for, and friends to his love to. I not only have the heart to kill him, but also not to break any IC hearts with his death.

Thank you, COTH, for not only giving him life, but a chance to life beyond his initial story.

2.) Dino. Good god, this guy became a favorite right under my nose. Like Kapre, he wasn't intended to survive long, but his originally intended lifespan was much shorter--he was meant to be a killable bad guy after only a couple weeks of RP in the Torr story (pre-restart) and again in the Stormwind Gangs story (post-restart). But his contract with Sangreala and Beaufort Bay changed all that. Now he is also very beloved.

I know I joked IC and OOC that Dino will never be a hero. This still stands true. But I am warming up to the idea despite his bad background.

3.) Mahen'tosh. YES, I STILL RP THIS DIRTY OLD FART. The main reason he became a favorite is how he has affected others in different ways than Kapre and Dino. Originally a sympathetic affably-evil villain, Mahen was to fool people into thinking he's a kindly old grandpa when he's really growing mad from the remains of fel and demonic connections he maintained from the Old Horde. Then.... when people got suspicious of his secret villainy, I was pleaded not to go through with it. So I didn't. Come server restart, I made Torr a separate character, the Doomguard whom Mahen supposedly controls (but it turns to be the other way around), and he controlled Mahen because of his growing weakness and control. I never though such pleas for Mahen's alignment resulted in this kind of character development.

The guy is now retired completely from warlockery and generally serves as a reminder to the younger orcs to never go that path again. And I love it.

Among lesser favorites (but still my top favorites) are Urameil, Kantado, Tibalan, Bastos, and now Arnaldo. Urameil is deliciously snarky, Kenny is a loser, Tibalan is adorably shy, Bastos is a butt monkey who totally deserves it, and Arnaldo too, but you feel sorry for him. HURRAY, FAVORITES!

....why are none of my females up there. Eh, let's throw in Jami in the mix.

Actually, on second thought I believe Bilial should get a mention from me. Which is kinda weird, since he's such a new character. But I do like the development he's had in the short time he's been used (I mean, the fact that he went from a character made as a joke to what he is now is kinda proof of that), but I also enjoy how many different ways I can see his future going. He's another one of those characters who I just can foresee ending up a few different ways-- remaining as he is now, fully embracing warlockery and going ebil, turning over to the good guys... Or, he could just die depending on the way things go. And I'm actually pretty alright with that, at least on the terms I've been running along at present. I just kinda like the branching paths this guy has. :B

Then again I rather enjoy tragedy. But even moreso tragedy which gets salvaged, a la what I've been doing with Endling. So we'll see how things go with that guy.

Oldies and goldies:

Arlyn, Elil and Eris are always fun. They're extremely well-developed and fleshed out, with pretty much complete personalities, and also -feel- very good to play. They make me happyfaise and leave me satisfied. Normally, I'd add Sylvandre in there, but the thing is... she does get a little depressing sometimes. And I don't like being depressed. Makes sense, no?

Serenwylde and Luelin are very enjoyable, but I tend to dose my time on them pretty carefully. I like them a lot, not just because they're entertaining and because they can yank reactions from the people around them, but I only get an urge to Roleplay them sporadically, from time to time, rather than constantly - something the first three always have the upper hand on.

New 'n Improved:

Macha is surprisingly fun to play. I never thought I'd enjoy a Fel-sworn so much, to be honest. Especially a Rogue. But now I'm really glad I went with it. Here it's not so much a testament to how developed the character is - because she's still relatively fresh and unfleshed(By my horrendously high standards), but rather I enjoy her due to her demeanor and the way she acts and reacts.

Rensin.

Because he's Rensin. He's not afraid of anything, and is vastly beard in the ways of martial arts, and has a way with women. That way is usually spiraling down towards impending crashes.

But down is a way.

If I absolutely had to choose one, it would be Remyl. He is my longest tenured character, in that he hasn't changed from his original incarnation except for the parts of his history that needed to change for WoW lore. He has also been easily my most popular, and one of my favorites to play, as I always have a fun time playing him.

My honorable mentions are:
  • Dibykali, with whom I've thoroughly enjoyed playing the blend of Orc and Troll cultures, and who I identify with possibly the most.
  • Yvakara, whose struggle is one of my favorites to play out.
  • Jonoth, who after a long time I've finally made a version of him that makes him the type of character I've wanted him to be since I joined CoTH.

The sad thing is, I don't have one.

Not because I can't choose, but because I never got to the point any of you have.

Clovis. Yes, I know, don't say it.

But I enjoy him. With the way I've developed him since my return to CotH, I want to believe he's the type of character than can be easily adjusted to fit into different scenarios, and he's my only character that's actually charismatic and can keep people engaged in conversation. Got nothing to do? I can have Clovis ramble on for hours about all sorts of random crap. I like it.

Aroes taught her well eh?

Gotta say my favorite character to play is Sivak...and it isn't just because of the diamonds. S'cuz I get to put him through the emotional stress of having to fight more and more despite detesting it. Though that really only applies to living things, not the scourge.

Well,

Jacob's my most complex character, my "Batman" (or "Joker"), the wide-ranged set of faces yet all making sense within his psychology. From intellectual playboy philanthropist to brooding vigilante to sadistic creep in 1.2 seconds. Since there are so many uncanny things about him I've probably given his mind most attention of all. So for deep psychological immersion, he's my go to guy.

Telih's likely my most fun-to-discover, the "Wolverine", the depth character with a clear first and perhaps second layer but with ages behind leaving a lot of room for facets and nuances beyond the obvious like the layers of deep rock. The trouble with him is (as with the Wolverine comics and geology) is that it takes quite a bit of exposition to get beyond surface layers, which is hard to get around to with RP time short.

But since the thread's question's on entertainment,

Singe, my "Deadpool", while I'm happy with his coherence, depth and nuances, is by far the most entertaining to be on. He tends to be enjoyable not only to me, but to himself, to IC friends, IC foes and to other controllers OOCly. 5/5 And like all sexy super-clowns, he always has the tragic armchair to fall back on.

I really don't have any favorite, certainly because I didn't last half as long as you guys.

But I do admit I enjoy playing Drena, my dwarf (one thereof), she's quite dark and gloomy (and recently went a darker path).. a dwarf that doesn't NEED to drink at every single roleplay either and whom has a lot of adventures.

I guess Kreeva, my Draenei, and Melina my DK Sin'dorei are also very fun to play to me, moreso that most others; they have more depth and backstory (it certainly has to do with linking them to other characters) than most of my characters, and also make me feel the most!

But, I like them all. Emma, Alanya are really fun to me, though not quite as fleshed, Beer and Halani and co. are really fun breathers.

Koora was the only character I was frustrated with, so I had her jump off a cliff. :D
Allons-y!

Have you hugged a dwarf today?

Well, I'd have to say Franziska. There's a character that's been around since the days of Burning Crusade (and retail RP) and, though her story's gone through several iterations already, the main idea for who she is and why she is the way she is, have pretty much stayed the same.

I can't give an exact reason (maybe because I've been away from WoW for a while) but that's the one character I don't think I'll ever get bored of easily even though she's can be hard to get into RP with since she's more of a loner... And not-quite-dead.

I would have to say Faelara and Niamh.

I've had Faelara since before the restart, and I love how much she's changed since then. I feel now that I'm getting her into lots more RP, she'll change even more than she has from the past. As for Niamh, I had the idea for her a -while- back, I just never went through with her ever. I'm really glad I did, because I have a blast RPing as her. She's another one that changed from how I had imagined for her, good changes though.

I... can't resist putting Jezzan up here. (Frankly, most of you probably expected it).

The most kindhearted, yet contradictory of my characters, Jezzan is that clueless child poking at bears and flirting with women when he barely understands how they work. But mostly, I love the depth that he has. He's surprisingly Trollish, if you think about it. Trolls objectify women, but he takes this a step further by blatantly falling in love with every woman (undead excluded) he meets. His fear of the unknown surpasses even the most xenophobic Troll. He is mortified by Outland as a place though, simply because it has floating rocks, glowing mummy people, and giant mushrooms. He'd probably run and scream from a Naaru. Undead also frighten him. He feels undervalued and underestimated most of the time, due to him being silly, and this is a source of anger for him. He feels emasculate by his father, who is pretty much the image of sexual perfection within Jezzan's family (a very prestigious role), and Jezzan was taught to value this.

My only beef with him is I just can't develop him in a way I like. Don't get me wrong, I love that he's a Hexxer now, and I love that he gets to show his darker side some more (lolumadKapre?). But just... how do you change what you've fallen in love with?

Just what i've come to tell myself.
