Thank you, COTH, for not only giving him life, but a chance to life beyond his initial story.

Psh. BREAK THE HEARTS.

BREAK ALL OF THE HEARTS.

Also I feel special because the "TORR IS REALLY THE DOOMGUARD" twist was -totally- my idea. I think it was.

... anyway.

... hard for me to pick favorites. My characters all have great strengths and also great flaws.

And I just don't like picking favorites, because 1: I hate being associated with any singular character, 2: eventually that one focus character overshadows all others, 3: My mood for RP changes entirely too much for me to really have a favorite, 4: I have a lot less characters than most people do on here, and when I roll a new character it's after I've put in much thought into it.

Instead, I'll just list what I love (and hate) about all my characters.

Cristovao I loved originally simply because I was excited to RP Cristovao properly. I had semi-RPed him before on a PvE/P server, but it was mostly light hearted. However, once the joy actually RPing Cristovao wore off, I quickly grew bored and frustrated with him, and even gave him a few really bad character directions (lolWanderlust). But, in recent times, he's recovered greatly. He's not my top favorite, but I feel I've hit a very good sweet spot with him as the Lordaeron good ol' boy of sorts. His personality is much more defined, I'm excited to experiment with him, and thinking up things for him to do is no longer a drag. Plus, he gets a lot of good feedback from people in game, people who say he's one of the best written paladins they've RPed with. While I wish they would go into more detail than that coughusemyfeedbackthreadcough, that vague tidbit does say a lot to me. Cristovao has a bright future as a character.

Hrodebert... hmm. At first he was the closest I had to an alt, and he's changed so much since then it's ridiculous. First he was exactly like any other dwarf, except he had a secret blood elf wife. Then I decided I didn't like stereotypical dwarfs, so I made him soft spoken and eloquent, and that soon didn't stick either. The defining moment for him really, was the Torr storyline. He became very bitter and angry, which I didn't like, and once the storyline ended, is when I started shaping Hrodebert up better. Now, he's essentially my go-to guy for random adventure RP, and he's got that brazen, rude, to the point heroic personality that I enjoy. It took a while for Hrod to get where I want him, but I love where he is now. People love him, too, and the fact that him married to Jami still gets people's attention and interest both IC and OOC shows that he (as well as Jami) are respected not just as a gimmick, but as characters. Says a lot to me.

Madugo, if I had to absolutely pick a favorite character, would be it, because he just never gave me problems. Ever. He was just right when I rolled him, and he's stayed there. He gets good Horde RP, people love seeing him as both the pacifist wiseman and as a father with too damn many kids, and he has never frustrated me or made me pull hairs over the direction I should take him in. I love you, Madugo, because if all else failed I could always rely on you for good RP.

Aryeon is the closest I have to a "namesake" character, one that everyone recognizes, loves, and wants to RP with. Immy has Kapre, Sachiko has Doran, c0rzilla has Annabelle, well, I have Aryeon. Sort of. I actively resist and fight against that trend, actually, because I don't want Aryeon to usurp my other characters. At any rate, I can't blame people for loving Aryeon. He managed to prove popular the very first day I RPed him, and since then he's yet to disappoint me. I love Song of the Sun, and I love how Aryeon is considered one of the "best portrayed" elves on CotH. I may not want him to be my poster child, but the feedback he gets says a lot to me.

My other characters are alts and aren't developed enough to really have much to say about them, but they do have sticks as characters that I enjoy. Hercynian is the world's most awkard dad, Gantrithor's fanboying of the Alliance (as a Draenei of all things.) without going into KILL ALL ORCS territory, Du'guro's tough old man attitude (that he's so far managed to maintain IC, which really impresses me considering all the Roll Fights he's been in), Langobard's sort of classic tragedy personality. And this is saying nothing of guys like Henri, who is just a composite of three different OCs from Angel Servant to function in the Red Glove, or Maeia, who went from throwaway plot device character to a tragically sympathetic mother whose roads all end in heartbreak.

... So yeah. There you go. I pretty much missed the point of the thread entirely, yay.
Your stories will always remain...

Hands down my favorite character is Faelion Sunsong. He's my third longest roleplayed character on CotH, and the only one to survive the restart. I sit around constantly wishing I could be roleplaying him when I'm unable to. With every ooc disappearance I've had, I've missed roleplaying him the most. Just having him wait in Private Discussion to become a demon hunter was agonizing, and torturous.

Why him? He's my most well-developed character. When first made, he was going to simply be a side-character, a brother for my friend Erynn's character, Faelara. Oh how I am so thankful that she asked me to create Faelion.

I've now had him for more than a year and a half, and over that course of history he constantly fought an addiction to fel, coming to terms with his future, jealousy of other's happiness, almost becoming a felsworn, kidnapped, constantly causing trouble in the Stormshade Clan, becoming a demon hunter, and is now a very sensitive little elf walking the borderline before good and bad.

Not only that, but OOCly while playing him I've met some of my closest friends on CotH, and would go to them for anything! They've always been there to listen to my happy times, sad times, depressed times.

Just thinking about it now makes me smile. :D

While he is the current favorite, just feel like listing past favorites of mine to roleplay!

Mugorim - He recently became a favorite of mine, while roleplaying him when I couldn't roleplay Faelion, I figured out a lot about his story and life. Now he's a very promising second!

Relon - 'Evil'(Not Really) Draenei. He was my first... -real- character, might bring him back one day, but for now he's on the shelf.

Kother - First character on CotH, I met a lot of people on him. He's still around today, with a pretty good story about the shadow realm should anyone want to know!

Fenion - Regardless of how... terrible it felt to log onto him at one point, he's dead now, in Outlands somewhere. I really learned a lot through his roleplay. Icly and oocly.

Ralzi - Favorite gnome! Played him everyday when the Aula Arcanum was about, loved the student/teacher roleplay. Still have him created, but not very active.

Yo.

Jidaeo - Jidaeo is probably #1, he's the char that started it all. Back in his prime he was everywhere and involved in a lot. He was my "action hero" in a sense and was perfect for the anti-hero role I enjoy. I like Jidaeo because he's sophisticated, reserved and hard to read for some. Ever since he became a Noble during the restart it was extremely fun to dive into the actual life of the char and expand his family. It puts Jidaeo in situations he could never enter before, like caring for his children/wife dealing with life vs undeath. I could go on but noone would care. Its so captivating to play him, and have finally had my second (third, fourth, fifth) wind with him. He's just cool as hell to me and I enjoy his aloofness, and slow indifference he shows to most people.

Zariel - I love Zariel, which is funny because he was basically made as a story mechanic. A typical revenge story of "I hate mah father" I tried to even have him successfully kill Jidaeo but because of Reigen ICly another way was decided and ultimately it was for the best as I got to show the more interesting story of redemption instead of ebilz. Zariel to me is hilarious and so fun to play because in some instances he's opposite Jidaeo. Zariel can be made fun of, doesn't take himself super seriously, can laugh, joke and even cry. Zariel is more expressive, and happy. He's really a derp but it makes him accessable to a lot of things. I love playing mages and being a noble ( who's alive ) its so fun to be able to play with the family, and just doing things and going places I can't go with Jidaeo.

Raphael - A character I don't really play anymore as everyone really associated with his story no longer plays, or have retconned things. Raphael I enjoyed because he was blunt, hilarious and had a "Idgaf" attitude. I stopped playing the char because people associated him with modern day stereotypes which wasn't my intention. People calling him my 'pimp' character and other stuff like that. Raphael was good because he was abrasive and could walk up to any situation and pretty much get things moving in a stagnant room.

Out of my small grouping of characters, there is not really one I favor more than the other, if at all. I see everyone describing all of their characters and their personality, and for some reason I just lack the capability to do the same. I play a character, and they are themselves, not I. None of them have gone through a massive change it seems, and none of them are masterfully written or fleshed out. They have their quirks, but every character does. Maybe I am just crazy, but I just think of all of my characters are average, one no more better than one another. All the adjectives like complex and interesting are something I do not think I can self apply to my characters. Am I the only one like this?

I really don't have a favorite, honestly.

In terms of playtime, most of mine is with Cassius.

But the one who has the best background out of all my characters would have to be Reinald. There's just something different about it, something fresh.

Hmm favorite character?

Pre-restart it was my wild warlock, Valda. I like to think I pulled off her personality well considering all she was put through. She walked the line, eventually pushing towards the darker end of morality. She had a lot of friends, and enemies, and the RP came easy.

Currently? It would be my human holy priest, Willard. Perhaps it's the lack of a profile, but right now I'm really enjoying his RP. He is a young man trying to master compassion. Without concentrated effort, he slips into a passive-agressive attitude. Mixed in with bouts of compassion fatigue and hormones, he occasionally finds himself conflicted with his actions. Of course he feels bad for them, and attempts to make up for it again. It's a vicious cycle!
The true test of his choice lies forward.

Huuuuuuh. Well.. I wouldn't really know who to pick out of my Forsaken. They're all awesome in their own little ways. I guess I'll go in order with top three most known.

Lendri - Well of course.. she was my first character on the server. I've had afew glorious years to work on her history and outlook on basically everything by now. She had such dramatic changes done to her overall personalities throughout the time I've roleplayed on her.. and she is probably like me in every way, heh. She's been getting lots more actiony stuff done lately and the increased game-time I have on her makes me elated beyond what words can describe. Also how I play off her emotional struggles makes me proud aswell. Not many Forsaken have that whole 'feelings' thing going for them, but with Lendri, oho. What a challenge. But she is very emotive underneath her tough-girl exterior. Just gotta know her deep down inside and she's honestly one of my most emotionally distraught characters.

Allen - Ahhh yes, my forsaken archer. He is just about the sweetest/humorous loyalist forsaken I have about now, and he hasn't been getting too much rp lately! But that'll change in time. His overall personality is something I absolutely enjoy about the character and his history I've been fumbling around in my mind for afew months now makes me wanting to more and more everyday to write a story about it. The way his actions ICly have somewhat given him a rather knightly exterior is something I didn't expect to happen. We'll see what the future brings for him!

Lazurus - MY MAAAAAAAAAAAAGE. Oh how I love Lazurus' reactions to situations and his class that is ever-so fitting to what I had in mind for him. I'm amazed how well I got to play off his nice-guy attitude around people and then him secretly have malicious intentions underneath. And what is great is that people have commented how creepy and surprised they were when he actually did something that was questionably evil. Hopefully I'll get more gametime on him, because he is a character I really enjoy playing in certain events.

But yeah, that's my rant on my deaders. =)

I myself have no favorite, at least not on CotH. Lately I hardly RP on CotH, sadly.

But a character I do enjoy over others would be surprisingly my orc, I don't RP him more often than the rest of my characters, but I love his background and the few RPs I did with him were quite enjoyable. As for the character I RP often than others, it would be Liatu, my draenei crusader.

Eh. No one's asking people to call their own characters complex or interesting to others-- that would be a bit pretentious. But we can certainly have that impression of our own work, even if somewhat inwardly. ...Which I suppose is why those characters are favorites, since people feel that they can be described in such a way.

Looking at pre-restart and post... I think I was in a darker place pre-restart. I had just been moved to second-shift, wife still worked on first, no evening life, ect. So I enjoyed darker RP, playing the villain. I didn't want to be nice to everyone I met ICly.

Life is a cycle of seasons, and currently I'm in a happy-go-lucky phase. So I want to RP that way.

Versich. When the roleplay suited his personality, and gave him a chance to express himself, it was fantastic. Definitely my special favorite.

The all-arounders would be Dagrim, Arianna, Kil'Shi, Sauldo, Skyfin, and Ara'Gazhi.
