Having your characters killing off your other characters can feel like a forced outcome to others, which is why I think this rule has come to be. It can come off as really weak RP that centers around a single player rather than inviting in multiple people, and can often lead to a storyline that's not open to any sort of external molding by others involved.

For example.

Character X starts a guild, to fight Mr. Mwahaha, who is played by the same person as Character x. So, to begin with, you have someone fighting themselves, which automatically feels forced and not so well thought out. From there, events happen, and it's made apparent X is going to kill Mwahaha. Everyone tries to further their own RP in the guild, with this idea looming over their head that they cannot be the hero of this guild/event, nor will many of their actions matter because ultimately, it's all about X and Mwahaha.

Mwahaha dies at the hands of X. Now, Mwahaha has a guild of his own, too, full of badies that totally support him and want him rezzed.

It can't happen, because of this rule. WHY is this rule in place? In my opinion, it's to stop these hackneyed storylines that are popping up like dandelions in my trailer's yard. They exist all over the place, but honestly, this story doesn't mimic any single one to a T, because they are all like that.

It may suck for you, but in reality it's forcing you lot to take the RP a different direction than the solo-glory-fest that this stuff comes off as.

This is an interesting rule, because it's not -really- something that should affect people who can, y'know, actually talk with others about storylines and have someone other than themselves play a villain or foil.

Welcome to RP folks, it ain't about winnin' or who has the most story to them. It's about interaction.

Aside from the Red Glove I can't really come up with a single other guild where the leader of a guild plays main characters on either end of the 'good and evil' spectrum. But I dunno, maybe I just don't RP with the right (wrong?) people, and see that sort of thing all too often. I think Immy pulls it off really well though, and I'll be sad if Dino ends up getting killed for the sake of Storyline and can't ever be brought back.

Not that this really has to do with anything, but oh well.

There's plenty, and there has been plenty, heh.

Or else this rule wouldn't have to be made.

This is exactly how I saw one of those play out, and it was a battle that had multiple combatants, and yet for some reason it was the alt that had to make the final blow. I don't think it would have bothered me that much except we were doing our own rp before alt and hero decided to start a fight with us and drag us into what they were doing when we had our own thing going first. But I guess it's just a personal peeve to see people try to thrust their rp into the center of attention. There's only so much you can do rping with yourself, so I'm not surprised that they went on to crash someone else's fight.

Just saying, the outcome doesn't always have to be death in an event, perhaps this will encourage RP beyond "Go here, kill this guy." when it comes to events.

Exactly, that too.
