Introduction (with a not-as-short-as-originally-anticipated story)
#1
First and foremost: Tell us about yourself, as a player:
Hello! My name is Hugo, and I'm 28 years old. I've been a gamer since I can remember and I've been playing MMORPGs since WoW first came out. I've played EVE, GW, POTBS, AoC, and a number of other titles, but frankly I seem to always come back to good old World of Warcraft. MMOs are my primary focus as a gamer and, other than Battlefield, I presently don't have much interest in playing anything other than WoW.

What country do you come from? What is your primary language?:
I'm from Portugal, so Portuguese is my native tongue, but I can write and read at least decently in English.

How did you get into Warcraft?:
I played Warcraft II for Sega Saturn and I've loved the series since. Warcraft III, with it's story and artwork furthered my love for the universe and WoW brought it to life in a quite surprising way.

How did you find us? Did anything in particular draw you to the server?:
About three weeks ago I discovered private servers, and I've been playing on one since. However, I've been truly disappointed to realize there is no RP community in it. Thus, I went looking for alternatives and found you guys. There seem to be a few other rp realms out there, but yours seems the most well organized.

What kinds of role-play do you enjoy?:
I like to use various characters to take different roles, but there seems to be a structure to militaristic/law enforcement roles (think Stormwind City Guard) rp I rather enjoy.

What is your favorite race/class? Why?:
It varies, really. I love the Deathknight class, for its conflicting nature: a risen dead coexisting and cooperating with the living (if he so chooses, anyway), having to find meaning in his existence. There are a few cannons I like as well: druid/night elf; Orc/warrior; human/paladin... but any race/class combo can work really, I think.

What are your expectations of this server?:
First I hope to find a few people I can role-play with calmly, to get a better understanding of the rules, and just generally improve my role-playing skills. In the future, I hope I can make good contributions with plot and scenario ideas, and role-play them so that everyone involved has a good time.

Out of all of our rules and regulations listed on our server, which appeals to you the most?:
The rules on death and resurrection seem sensible, beyond what I'd normally expect. But I don't know a lot of other server's rules, so I'm not a very good judge there. For the most part, it seems there's interest in learning from situations and applying whatever change to the rules sensibly derives from it. That's very good to see.

Lastly, tell us a story! It can be short, it can be long; but most importantly, we want to see your work in action. Go!:
Alaria Starsong slowly worked her muscles to prevent them from cramping from staying immobile so long. She had been sitting on the great tree's branch for over two hours now, barely moving to avoid notice by the searching eyes she knew must be spreading all over this part of the Ashenvale forest. Even now, her movements were so slow and cautious she knew she would not attract attention to herself. Concealment was a skill every sentinel perfected far beyond even the natural abilities of the Night Elf race and after 170 years of serving the goddess in that capacity, Alaria matched the skills of any of her peers. Even now, knowing they were there, made them no more possible for her to see than if she had been born blind. There were over 150 sentinel archers hidden in the trees along the road, waiting in ambush just as she was. She knew where they would be, but she could as easily see them as she would have been able to turn the day into night. She could not help thinking of them without a flush of pride. The Horde would never know what hit them.

She was not done stretching her muscles when an owl flew by her tree, hooting twice. They were coming.

The scouts appeared first. Two wyverns with riders, flying a few feet above the forest canopy, scanning for anything that could threaten the supplies convoy the sentinels were targeting. Alaria leaned back and melded into the shadows of the boughs and leaves above her, certain they could not see her.

And yet, to her surprise and dismay one of the wyverns suddenly veered and flew directly toward her tree. It blasted a roar, just as it flew by overhead and then swung back to grapple its huge claws around one of the thick branches just a few feet above her. Dry mouthed, and fearing she had somehow exposed her own and therefore her sisters' presence, Alaria readied herself for an attack.

But the wyvern seemed confused. It smelled the air, inhaling deeply and the orc rider leaned over on its back, looking this way and that for whatever had intrigued her mount. They hadn't spotted her yet.

A few seconds later – that felt like an eternity – Alaria heard a rustle in the leaves above and smiled.

Just as the rider twitched back on her saddle to look behind her mount, two enormous fangs leaped out of the foliage heading straight for her face. Startled, the wyvern sprang back into the sky, saving the orc from being pulled straight into the mandibles of a giant spider that had been nesting quite near the sentinel's hiding place.

The orc cursed and spluttered while her companion, who seemed to have witnessed everything laughed uproariously. Orcs had a strange sense of humor, Alaria mused as she sighed inaudibly with relief. Unaware of the keldorei's presence, the spider retreated quickly. The orcs, one of them still alternately berating and praising her mount, flew away.

A few minutes later, however another shock awaited the night elf. Even as the humanoid forms drew closer Alaria realized their information had been wrong. It was no supply convoy. Or if it was, it marched in the company of an army and not an escort: hundreds of warriors, some afoot and some mounting the horde's vicious beasts, and two full squadrons of wyverns flying above. As they grew closer, the sentinel had time to wonder how that was possible, how the horde had grown so powerful and how could they afford to bring such numbers into the heart of Ashenvale. But when the owl hooted again, she and over a hundred of her brethren loosed their arrows.

Is there anything else you would like to add, ask, or otherwise clarify?:
Where do most players come from and what times do they usually play? I'm on GMT (0) so I'm worried most other players will be sleeping while I'm playing!

Hello! I'm flammos200(Just Flammos is fine too.), and it's my pleasure to welcome you to CoTH!

Now, be sure to read up on the Rules and Policies if you haven't already, and if you need help Creating a Character, you can find some on the Wiki, or take a gander at some of the Profiles there, to familiarize yourself with some of the people you might meet on CoTH.

Other than that, we've got players from all over the world, but the majority of them are from the US. There's no set time for when the server is at its most active - but nothing stops you from trying to find a crowd you particularly enjoy RPing with at some interval. Usually, the times for anything from events to major RP are quite flexible and often set to incorporate people from the GMT/GMT+ regions, as well as those from the US and such.

Oh, and thank you for the story!

But hey, if you need any more help or have any more questions, feel free to PM a GM or Forum Helper like yours truly. Seriously. PMs never killed anyone... yet.

See you around!

Hi, thanks for having me!

I'm still downloading the client files, so I'll work on my character's creation in the meantime.

Thank you again, and hope to be able to see you in-game soon!
