I can check, Binkle. I'm supposed to have the Templar Faction outfit from their ARG back in May. Whenever the game wants to work, that is. It randomly decided to reinstall. I have no idea why.

But for now, I really can't run this game at all. They just keep giving me authentication errors. Attempting to verify the integrity of the game cache in steam just caused the game to reinstall for no apparent reason only to give me the same issue once more.

EDIT: this is proving itself as a waste of money more and more. My latest attempt was using the clients reapair tool to see if there was a problem which triggered a 2GB install which, again, ended in failure. So I close down the client and I actually get a blue screen..... Seriously? This was my PC's first blue screen ever. I'm just about on the edge to start pushing for a refund because this is ridiculous. I have hours of TSW gameplay hours on Steam and I've yet to be able to log in.

Is your driver up to date?
Mine was being wonky until I decided to update the driver to something more recent.
It may also be an utterly corrupt game file and the whole thing will need to be replaced.

Drivers don't seem to be the problem.

Whenever I reinstall it, which I've done twice now, the launcher always ends teh patching with an error saying "launcher failed to download some resources. Restart required." or something similar. When I do restart the launcher, the game is apparently playable, but when I try to login, I get the authentication error.

Apparently, TSW gives you the same error when you're on the wrong version, so my own personal guess is that the launcher actually fails to download a few files, but still says it's playable. So the game client itself says I'm on the wrong version. And it keeps happening over and over again, so I really don't know how to fix it.

My PC couldn't run the game, so I won't even buy it. =( I hate this PC. =(

You know, Roxas, I might be getting the same error. I was watching the number of total files or bytes or whatever downloaded out of the total (to patch up), and it kept going over, higher and higher until I got the "Fatal Error: Not All Resources Were Downloaded Correctly. Please Restart the Update Manager" crap.

Did you use steam? I'm trying to download the client from their actual website right now to see if it's the same. Alternatively, the patcher might mess up when installed on anything but the C\ HDD which is something some games do. If none of those things are the problem, the patcher really just is horribly programmed.

I think it's steam being derpy. I patched with their client from their web site and I never had any problems.

If you're not running steam in admin, do it. Otherwise, sounds like it's Steam's fault.

I'm not convinced to get this. *_* GW2 was utterly boring for me which I quit rather fast; Seeing as this is yet another mmo, I fear it'll do the same.

What makes this stand out? What are the unique bits and pieces in this game? Saw the screenshots, know the factions but heh. Terms of gameplay, how is it different?

Mostly, it's the environment and atmosphere. The modern setting and the "everything is true" idea of the game is always what has intrigued me the most. Everything else isn't all that different. To have such a game and story that takes place in locations and environments that I am familiar with raises the immersion for me. At least that's why I like it.

Well, I hear the quests are less Bear Asses and more focused on critical thinking and problem solving, but I've yet to play myself.

That too. They have some puzzles, and I think a couple of ARG (Augmented Reality Game) as well.

It has its fair share of "Just kill X and Y"
But there are quite a few quests that require sneaking, exploration and/or critical thinking.

Alright. Thanks. Think I'll pass on the sale then as I'm starting to believe I'm pretty done with the mmo genre in general. CotH is the sole reason I still do WoW. ^.^

So I finally got it running. I had to go into my account, click the option to change the form of membership and then just click ok. For some reason, this fixed it.


EDIT: And just if you're having a lot of graphical glitches or just glitches overall, try switching the DirectX used to DX9. It's set to DX11 by default for some reason, which is something only high end machines can pull off without a hitch.
