Death Knights

But of course. All of this is true. Though Erythnal and I didn't randomly find corpses. Those were all player's who tried to come and kill us. Though Deadwind pass does have alot of corpses. I am sure that we could also go to any old graveyard and rob them of bodies. Another thing is how we are so OP. Maybe we are. But it is the first hero class! We have to deal with it. I am certain they will come out with some cool races and maybe a class in the next expansion. Or they will introduce another class to balance it out. I dont know. It doesnt matter to me. I dont find them very OP. Though the way some of them are played and/or portrayed is.

The main thing that I think would cut down on people claiming death knights are op'd is... stop assaulting them. The same thing happened pre-restart with the Avidus, people would show up and assault us damn near every day, then make new characters to do it again. It eventually led people to think we were all overlord awesome mass-murderers.

Well Mikain. Thanks for that, basically solved it. But that is what is happening. We dont go looking for trouble (( Yet )). We have been safely in our bases of undisclosed locations. I have acually seen a ton of meta-gaming over this. Now everyone know's where we are? Only a few people have escaped. Most of them ICly havn't said a thing. But then in /chat or /guild they begin chatting about current events. Then it leads to meta-gaming. So for the sake of your characters. Dont rush them blindly. It may lead to your perma-death. Or ours. But it's your choice.

I think that pretty much sums it up.

But, Vrahn, I personally think you do a good job at Erythnal. And anyone who plays a Death Knight should tackle the Character with maturity, research and some of that old fashioned logic.

Anyone who RP's with a Death Knight might also need to do the same. They are scary and powerfull beings, act accordingly.

Welp, thanks a lot Walluce. :) It'll be interesting to see what Ery does in this new situation.

Yeah, with our DK 'hunter' characters, we aren't trying to say anyone is doing it wrong, it's just a few guys attempting to rally some DK's, heh. And Hunter isn't a really good word, it's not like we're going off to kill them, more like find and drag them under our wing.

I share the same opinion with Mikain on the matter. Nothing is wrong with opposing people like this... but, honestly...

If you know that's what's going on there, why do people make characters to barrage the place on a daily basis? While I understand the want to RP with people, I also understand the frustration of trying to play an evil character, and having people treat you as if it's how you are OOCly.

On the other hand, I also can see how frustrating it is to lose a character when you just want to go out and meet new people to RP with. That's why this is the fine line.

Again, it's about how you play your character. AND REMEMBER, if you have no reason to go into a creepy grave yard, do not meta-game by looking at /who or server status and track people down.

This -really- isn't an issue of DK's being overpowered.

No, The issue isn't the fact that they are or are not Overpowered. I just wanted to get my opinion out and let other people's opinions be heard. I am sure alot of people want to agree/disagree with everything said. I also know how it feels to kill character's and to lose characters. But life goes on. Though they want to RP with people. We usually give them a warning before coming to us, and once they are there.. So we give ample warning of death. But if you insist on making character's just to barrage us or die. Well. That isn't up to me to decide.

I don't think that the Death Knights are overpowered, as they have their weaknesses like most other classes (from an IC point of view).

It is my view that the Overpowered-Opinion comes from the fact that the Death Knights get to start out with vast IC Abilities - To me it's like rolling a Mage, and then declaring that he starts out as an Archmage of unusual skill from day one. Just that with Death Knights, you are allowed to say just that, while the player behind the Mage would most likely be told to moderate himself. For that reason, people rolling other classes tend to start out a bit more humble, and go trough the IC process of "getting there", while the Death Knights skip the whole process and starts out with the powers of a Dark Lord. This has nothing to do with the people rolling Death Knights (I've not met many, but those I've RP'ed with has mostly done a good job,) but the Lore behind the Class itself. That's my two coppers, anyways.

If players want to drive the death knights from duskwood, i suggest you find paladins and priests.

Edit: Most evil characters are fine with me, but, they has been an increase in "I-want-to-take-over-the-world" characters latley.

I had the same feeling when we had the Fourth War deal before WotLK, everyone seemed to join the Burning Legion, it all balanced out eventually. It´s like all booms, sometimes it´s blood elves, sometimes undead, sometimes evil-doers.

Just to answer a couple points here:

1. Level 80 DK is equal in power to a level 80 every-other-class. A Warrior or Paladin can reach the same level of power as a DK, the only difference is that a DK starts off powerful and doesn't need to go through those awkward apprentice days like everyone else does. This is why they are restricted to grunts.

2. Soul sucking DKs is more than a little unusual. If the DK's sword eats the soul, how is he later going to animate the body? Beyond the sheer OPness of it.

3. You cannot deny a person's right to have their one resurrection. I don't care if your character would chop the body up into neat cubes and toss it into the ocean for the fish, you cannot deny a person their one resurrection. If someone chooses to end their character after their first death, that is THEIR choice, NOT YOURS.

Carry on.

I know I'm all sorts of late to this conversation, and my 2 cents probably won't sway the argument either way, but I just have to say it.

I'm anti-Death Knight. In every sense of the word. The primary reason why I didn't get back into Live WoW was because Blizzard decided to focus in on this blatantly broken class. They work good as a literary device that's sparingly used in a story. Example being Warcraft III's characterization of Arthas. It was a great way to convey the theme of a Machiavellian style prince letting his noble ambitions get way out of control and ultimately corrupt him.

But when you throw out the class for everybody to have? It just...becomes ruined. I know I'm biased, as I came from Argent Dawn which since day 1 was plagued by horrible Death Knight RP'rs. Along with vampires and werewolves and demon entities and men with laser-eyes and Night Kitten whore brothels and all sorts of other ridiculous craziness.

So, if it were up to me, I'd just delete everything Death-Knight related (except for specialized instance mob bosses and stuff) and keep them as purely background lore characters. Kinda like how this server had it before.

But! I'm probably the only person to think this and I understand why they would be permitted. So in conclusion ranty rant rant ranty rant get off my lawn.
