Patching issues!

Quote:Try logging in now. I changed the flags on your account to BC-only

Thanks Kretol! I am sure it'll work, but as I said I decided to try and download WotLK via torrents. Seeing as I'd really love to be able to RP in Northrend. I mean, being that the server does support the whole place, why not make the most of it? I hear it's beautiful there. I'll try to log in when I get home (writing this on a crummy lap computer), and hopefully it'll be fine. If that is the case, I'll try to install WotLK, whivh would mean you might need to reset the flag.

In which case I'll just apologize for the inconvenience in advance, but I'm dying to get some snow under my feet.

(On a side note, I would probably have bought the real deal, but I'm European, which means I would either have to buy the EU version that wouldn't work with this server, or the US version which would mean I could only ever play on American servers if I reactivated my retail account. It's tough, I tells ya!)

Actually both version should work, I got the EU one on one of my computers.

Though some would would argue that buying the game with no intent on playing it on the retail servers is a waste of money.

Argh! This is upsetting, still can't patch up to 3.0.3 :( so I don't know if I will be able to play with you all :(

Edit 1: By the way, Thank you for peon status!

ModSquad, take a look at the current version you are running, make sure what you're running is the US client, not EU. Then go to WoW Patches and get every single one from your current number and forward, and remember to get only the US versions. Then install them one by one manually until you reach 3.0.3, since installing just the latest won't work. Maybe that'll help.

I've tried, I don't know why it doesnt work. Everytime I try to install a patch it brings up the blizzard downloader that just sits at 0%. If theres a way to bi-pass that I'd have it done in a snap.

Well, there is. Just close the downloader and install the patches yourself by downloading them manually from the link in my previous message. That doesn't even require the blizzard downloader to be running. If you for -some- reason want the Blizzard downloader to do it for you, make sure it's allowed through both Windows Firewall and whatever third party firewall you're running. Comodo typically has three ports you need to okay, while Windows Firewall (the default firewall on Vista) only has one. You can find Windows Firewall under the control panel like most other computer related things.

EDIT* If the problem is that the game just brings up the downloader when you try to install one of the patches, you might either be using the wrong region (US/EU), or the game itself is borked. The Blizzard downloader shouldn't have any reason to start if you are installing them manually, so something must have gone awry if this is the case. I can only recommend a reinstall or a look at the official help forums.

I cannot make a game profile because it say the info does not match. Also I do not have the programs to open any torrents, does anyone know were I can get a program that will help me. Also...I cannot get to this sever even though I have set my relmslist as stated in the guild.

An ISO is essentially a copy of a dvd/cd, which then only exists virtually. It need to be mounted in a virtual drive. A virtual drive is a device which gives you a likewise "fake" drive to put the "fake" dvd/cd in, in order to run it like a regular one. I recommend MagicISO Virtual Drive. It's easy, lightweight and pretty good for any beginner. You install it, and should notice a small icon of a CD in the lower right corner, near the PC clock. Right click that, choose "Virtual CD/DVD-ROM", then "mount", and find your ISO file. It will then start like a regular disc would, with autoinstall and everything.

If you are looking to download a torrent, then please be aware that this isn't strictly legal, though nearly no internet providers enforce it. You can visit such places as The Pirate Bay, or Mininova.org. Quick google searches should help. You'll need a torrent program to download anything via the torrents provided on such sites, for example uTorrent. There's an installation guide on the site if you need help, otherwise you can probably send me a tell here if you want to know something they don't explain in detail. I really hope all this helps you.
