Concerning Horde vs. Alliance
#31
i agree with Vrahn and the like. Half the time your character might have done somthing stupid or gone somewhere he should not have gone another half he is just unlucky. Now while this is unfair it adds to the whole thing we are here to do..Role play.

Do you think Thrall and whats his face emo king will live for ever (if it was a real time game or somthing) not likely unless there somehow dragons. Azeroth and Outlands and such are simple: Its rather terrible to live in. While some places are beatiful and eye catching all have at least one minor problem and you can bet your last gold coin that millions are lost each day. It helps prove your a real RPer to suck it up and Role Play your guy as you see fit. I may be hard to understand so ill brake it down (though might repeat someone else)

Say theres two people doing the same thing: Strong Hero Warrior (SHW) and Leon

They have to do a recon mission and go deep into the barrens for there guild..or org or whatever Leon would stick to the shadows avoiding the other faction as you should thus a greater chance of not fighting thus a greater chance of not dying coz...well hes a coward and a thief and while he has nothing -against- the horde he would kill one if it dropped its guard..fearing he would do the same however SHW has no cares in the world and will slaughter anyone in range..thus increases his chance for Dying (or others for that matter) The fact is there both in someone elses turf..see it from the orcs perspective

You see some random human walking round (or sneaking) you dont wave, you dont walk past him you question, attack, maim or even kill him if your worried think of the possiblities: Assassin? Spy? Death Dealer? Freak o' Nature? theres so many things he could be but the orc doesnt know. If your dead your dead its how the world works. Oh and as for the whole Emo King the only one declaring war..while that may be true the alliance would probobly follow sooner or later..both have there needs and some of those quests in WoW are quite brutal to the other faction. Of course also sooner or later Emo Kings gonna get impaled..no one will cry...no one

I think a lot of people got lost on this thread. I believe the original post was to point out the large amount of "super duper" brave characters that kill people without it really having any negative effect on them or the world around them. If you kill someone, and your friends happen to prefer peace, you'd lose standing with said friends. I'm not saying we shouldn't kill members of opposite faction running around in the wrong region but there are many things that should be considered before killing someone.

Also, if they weren't so many Humans, maybe the Horde could find RP in their own regions. Of course, I personally wouldn't find myself in Alliance territory looking for friendly RP.

This is an interesing thread.

The main points of my opinion are thus:

1) Wether we like it or not, death happens in the server and permisson from the victim isn´t required. What IS required is a proper good reason to do so (a little more than "I hate their race" if you´re in neutral land). You can´t just say "Laaawl, my character is an evil pyscopath and i´mma gonna melt your face!"

The following is my personal view of RP etiquette concerniing battle and death, so I don´t want any /rage or over-enthusiastic arguing against it.

2) If by the circumstances you feel your character has to fight another but the other character hasn´t actually done anything to deserve or provoke the situation, it would be DECENT to allow the other character´s escape.

3) If the character brought the situation upon him/herself...too bad. You don´t have to feel bad about their death and THEY don´t have any right to argue or throw a tantrum about it.

4) Yes, death is part of a realistic setting, but it is also a game. And to be honest, its NOT that difficult to compromise and STILL roleplay your character well.
