I'm not even sure that it is a "What if it was me?" point of view that would promote the act of mobbing. It's more of a, I need to eliminate this threat before it wrecks what I have here. We have made a home here and I don't want people burning it to the ground, and I am sure that others feel the same, which is where these lovely Lynch Mob NPCs come in. Most people in this settlement are well armed, being mercs, thugs, and other types of criminals. They were taught to fight to get what they want, so if someone was threatening them, they would instinctively fight off the threat.
Let me put it this way: If Alcaz isn't going to survive as a lawless island with -no- NPC guards or guard-like thugs, then the idea has failed and we just get rid of the "lawless" settlement because it'll just be like another Cartel town.
I'd just like to point out that this is exactly what I said would happen? I visited this suposed Lawless town on an undisclosed character and got killed, and another friend of mine got kidnapped for the pure sake of being kidnapped. Was their any IC reason or thought put into it probably not.

So "I told you so." is in order here, other then that I'm not going to go over the whole 7 pages of posts, I remember Twilight from back in the day and she basically the official "Queen" of the Cartel from what I remember and that's about as Lawless as you can get. I think her post pretty much covers most of what is needed to be fixed.

Like it's been said over and over, just because their are know laws there are still codes which all beings would follow losely or no one would bother coming to this place.

If anyone has seen "Black Lagoon" it basically takes place in a Lawless town run by the various gangs and mafias and while there are a couple of laws it's essentially lawless but there are basic principles that they follow.

Anyway that's my few cents into this discussion.
Just throwing down an observation here.

The island has come to be a place where characters begin to absolutely ignore their moral boundaries, and just do whatever they want. Normally, a human being has that code. That knowledge of what is right and wrong to do.

Well... it just seems like everyone on Alcaz suddenly loses their ability to comprehend right and wrong, and all go out on their sick paths of 'justice' or whatever they might call it.

Civilization cannot operate properly without laws. Though they might be unspoken, there are rules to everywhere.
Phoenix Wright knows how to legal system
Exactly. Unspoken/unofficial rules enforced by the players, as Twilight suggested in the original post. That's what Alcaz needs.

It's not just humans, I mean every race has it's own code of etihcs. But this is exactly what I knew would happen unfortunately a lot of players see this as a chance to kill anyone they want without any IC issues.

If it keeps up maybe I'll have to bring the Sovereignty back to purge the place. ;)

I think this looks like a whole black and white situation.

For white, we have total lawful. Stormwind City guard where they allow nothing bad to happen inside of the city limits if they can help it. But, it seems like Cartel towns are also adopting this white for some reason. So, more or less, we have every town which people go to with a white, lawful guard set.

Then, we have black, total lawless. People dying left right and center. Slavery, no one stopping anything. Lawless City. We have one of these on CotH and it seems to be causing quite a bit of drama already.

Hence; we should do something about it. We need more grey cities. Black and White can only go so far, there is always something wrong with it. Grey, on the other hand, is lawless but it still has laws. For an example, killing will get you repaid in kind by the people who rule the town or a good time in prison. This is what I expect Cartel towns to be like but, they're more white now-a-days.
The I told you so attitude isn't useful. You had a bad experience the one time you tried the place. I have been there on numerous occasions now, and when it's been populated I've had a great deal of fun. No-one has tried to kill me, I have tried to kill no one. And yet it's still to my mind more fun than a good majority of RP I have had here.

I have had only one incident of observing someone being murdered for what seemed to be no good reason, and the backlash against that character I felt was appropriate, as they were quickly chased out of town.

I like this place. If it's given guards, it becomes pointless. It becomes another cartel town where everyone can go to RP, but no-one actually wants to because it would be bland and the same as every other place of that kind. And it would just lead to more OOC tattletaling for meaningless things, more GM intervention, more hassle and just far less fun.

If you don't like the kind of RP that is there, that's your choice. But just because you had a bad experience with it, or because you don't like it, doesn't mean that your word is law, and that it should be deleted or changed.
There will always be places where people go to indulge in baser natures. It's the entire premise behind some locations IRL, and ingame. People like not having to listen to conscience or laws.

I'd like to suggest just letting things develop.
In Summary, Alcaz Island is a horrible place that turns, even the most pure of characters, evil. Which is bad for RP

at least, that's what I am getting out of this. It seems that players are getting carried away with this lawlessness and forgetting their personalities in game
It just isnt. People don't just go there and go "Rawr now im gonna be Evil". People are just acting how they beleive their character's would act without a guard breathing down their neck. And yes, its different than what they would in a lawfull place. But that's exciting. And different than anything else we can get on the server currently outside a pre-arranged event.

If you don't like the RP that goes on in a place just leave, find something else to do. Don't try and ruin the RP for people who actually like it.

Its just upsetting me now, that some people have not had fun there, and that seems like its going to be enough to bring it down, when there are a good number of people who actually like it. It's been up what, A week or two? And already people are blaming it, and suggesting it is removed or changed.

I like RP there. I believe it will level out, but except for a minority of cases it shouldn't have to. That does not make me stupid, it does not make me a bad RP'r, and it should not mean people can just start saying stuff like that to me because we disagree on a point.

Im just getting sick of things like this, guys. Im here for fun.
The thing is, to me, it seems like the place is less of a 'you do something bad, bad things happen to you' and is ruled by a sort of whimsical verdict one might make on whether or not someone else lives or dies.

Character warnings have been issued for no reason, apparently. I barely know, I've been there three glorious times, one of which ended up with multiple people dieing largely due to my presence. The problem is that when you go there, there's no 'karma system' in place. People live and die based in the internal 'dice rolling' decision making processes of the people there.

I don't know. Perhaps I think of something else when I think of 'character warning'. I tend to think it means 'hey, buddy, my character might end up killing you if you keep doing this.'. But lately it seems like it's 'my character might kill you', with no context to the warning itself. It feels like if you go there a dice is rolled. And if that dice rolls on a one you will die.

These are mere observations. I am not out to get rid of the place nor suggest change to it, for it frankly bothers my roleplay little. I suppose I'm just throwing my two cents into the wishing well that is this topic.

To be honest, I don't think anyone else here is suggesting it be wiped off the face of the earth. Though, perhaps I missed that post. It seems like we're merely discussing things.

Regardless, as Etmosril said, let's let things develop a bit. Perhaps things will be worked out over time.

New things are often hard to figure out initially, and it may take a while before things truly settle on Alcaz.
...Is this thing completely different when I login on my timezone?
It may well be. The only violence I've seen is a couple people being absolute idiots and making joke-characters just to prove a point or because they think it's funny, then getting their arses kicked. I certainly have not witnessed any random character warnings or killings, and I've been there quite a few times.
