Wuvvums Wrote:Uh, except this hasn't really happened. Didn't anyone see where I pointed out that I killed a person in broad daylight and no one did a thing about it? Honestly, I think it's more like "if no one there is OOCly your friend or in your guild, no one will help you."

So I haven't been complaining but then again no one has been making attempts on mine or McKnighter's life. In fact, everyone's been saying hello to my guy and acting friendly despite him being a zombie. I wouldn't mind if someone tried to kill him but the fact is is that no one has.

Well, to be honest I think this is also a problem. Not to tell people how to play or anything, but that kind of thing just isn't casual. No matter where it happens. I can understand your character doing so, but there are so many factors that should have stopped such a thing.

But don't think I'm pickin' at you either! There are a lot of people involved in this place, and it seems that a lot of you guys have mixed ideas on how it should be run, and to be honest none of you guys trust eachother enough OOCly to keep to the unspoken rules ICly. I see a -severe- lack of trust here, and it's probably well rooted due to people trying to look out for their own interests.

I honestly see either a GM or even the Admin stepping in if this doesn't get figured out, as I'm sure they don't want drama over it. I'd like to see it kept alive!
I agree on some points.

I believe that people forget their character's personality, yes - I believe that's correct. Obama wouldn't just begin burning down the United States if he wouldn't get caught, would he? Would democrats bomb the republicans if they could? Most likely not. Even though these are "good" reasons, compared to those being thrown around on CotH, it doesn't happen.

I'm not trying to say that people should change their character's personality because of OOC boundaries, but maybe you should think twice before actually trying to kill someone? "Would my lawful good paladin kill an innocent woman, because he has the possibility to?" your character would most likely still have morales, even though he's living in a place with no guards.

I believe that people do it just because there's no -NPCs-, but ICly - your character wouldn't know the difference between a PC and a NPC. Your character don't go on a rampage inside Stormwind, because you know OOCly that your character would end up dead. Why would he do so here then? That would be meta-gaming.
I'm starting to get the feeling that some people just want to have this place exist so that they can kill people without consequences. I have a suggestion: Go play Grand The Auto if you want to do that.

And here's some advice to everyone else: Form gangs to roam the island and hunt down the psychopaths. This will discourage random attacks. If you want to be particularly cruel, bait them.

Oh god yes.
It'd be awesome to see some gang RP going on; gang vs gang, gang alliances. (whether they're actually friendly, or it's just a MAD agreement) The Lawless island is perfect for that.
I believe that if the GMs decorated this place, more people would come. Currently, people have -nothing- to do without a tavern.
Use your imagination, it's part of Role Playing.

I'd keep defending Redis here, on his points of randomly slaughtering when possible, since it seems some people are indirectly saying I shouldn't be issuing a island-wide CW before starting RP.

Redis morals have fluttered away ever since he started to abuse Necromancy and Shadow Law. At this point, he really doesn't even care for the living. His life sucks pretty badly, so he might as well make other people suffer too. And a great way to do that, is to kill them, raise their corpses, and have yet another minion under his control. He's going to do whatever he wants until someone actually threatens his life, that has enough muscle to back up the talk.

While I haven't been getting on Redis lately, due to some IRL conflicts and other characters taking more of an interest, I normally won't hop on him unless one of my PC ghouls are online. Because, Redis wouldn't walk around without protection, and if I used two NPC ghouls of a lesser value, people might say I'm meta-gaming or whatever. Plus! It gives a bit of purpose to my minions and RP!

Regardless, Redis will be moving into a location sometime when I have a block of time to RP in a moving crew and other things for a black-market. Perhaps it'll give a bit of RP without the tavern!
Or a player could open up their own bar, sell various beverages and such.
What Nostra said, It's all part of the magic of IMMMAAAAAGIANAATTIOOONN and this thread has gone on far too long.
We did that Nostra, but people can't be on 24/7 and actually -having- a bar adds more to the immersing. It's basically just a couple of kegs, and a table.

EDIT: After being on the server for less than 10 minutes, people complain about all the CWs on Alcaz - and I totally agree there. But seriously, if you want a difference - make a difference. People complain about how it gets less populated, and everybody dies there. Seriously, if there gotta be made a difference, YOU gonna make a difference. I really can't believe that 90% of the people who come there are in fact mindless ghouls, who strive to kill anything that moves.

There is more deaths on an island, than in a god damn gladiator pit! Seriously, I really can't believe it. My character, who's an assassin that fights for justice and all the bullpoop, has killed 1 person on the island - and he's the one who has been there the longest time. Next time you walk up to someone and decide to cleave off his head off/or if you see someone do it, try to consider the situation. "Would Mike, my peaceful farmer who wets his bed at night, really have the guts to kill a 10 feet tauren with a pitchfork?". As someone said, if you have this urge to kill something - go play Grand Theft Auto. We RP to have fun, and nobody enjoys getting their character killed, because it picked his nose.

/rant
Just to interject, Mike isn't a farmer any more. He's a cowboy/repair man. Seriously, look him up!
Damn it Ben! Also the fact that people complain alot about "Dying making less fun RP" Elludes me, Dying, the last moments of your characters life (until he rezzes with magic fairy dust) should be the most dramatic. Alcaz island can't be lawless anymore, it needs bloomin guards.
I wasn't really talking about any character specificially.
If your going to complain about characters trying to kill people, group up and kill -them-. I thought that's what the idea was behind that whole 'karma system' that was mentioned before? If anything from what I've seen murderers are unimpeded, and in the worst case are just glanced over by even the -paladins-.

Also I'm not sure if it was said on this thread, but I don't think any GM is spawning anything on this island unless the thing sees regular RP. So far there has been a huge dip in interest from the first few days of it, which is honestly what I expected, really.
