Point is, in any story, it sucks to be the red shirt.
It'll be funny when the majority leaves for new shores when this doesn't get resolved peacefully with compromise. Not trolling, but it seems like this could be the first step down the path for CotH should an issue like this be a major problem.

Jus' sayin'.
It's not like I have a prestige, or even try to make one, I just see it as unfair to completely burn the system. It'd be a waste. And I understand some systems are being thrown around.

I wholeheartedly support the idea of keeping the prestiges while getting rid of the roll bonuses. Although that would just make a Myrmidon a base class with the ability to pull off a flashy move, I've not seen a thread that involves a Myrmidon. I actually have fought Mokaku, and I completely forgot that he is indeed a Myrmidon. He asked for +3 to HP and +15 to rolls, at first I thought he was kidding. Then he was serious. I think I didn't ragequit, and we settled on +2 to HP and +15 to rolls. It was a fun fight, not a fun in a sense 'I lost', but rather, it was lulzy. I had a fair share of laughs in that fight. And, while getting rid of the bonuses would make the system be chosen for character development, rather than for power, what happens to Myrmidons or other classes that just need a roll bonus to represent their power? We must have lulzy fights that we lose, people.

I'd love to roll an Archmage simply because of the ability to craft your own spells. For example, making an arcane beam that can damage foes in a line while nearly exhausting the caster would be insanely fun. Or a Templar with the ability to create Holy spells. Or something else that can mess around with spells and make the RP slightly more interesting.

It'd be sad to see the system just crash and burn, after all the hours put into it by the GM team and the writings that players have written. Getting rid of the roll bonus would be a better idea, if only a slightly better one, and would effectively eliminate people who roll for power.

This probably makes no sense whatsoever, but I must increase my post count somehow and still be a member of discussions.

Again though, this isn't really the idea I was going for. I'm just saying people should be able to play normal soldiers and not the champion of the army, simply put.

CotH began and worked without a prestige system. If the lack of one is really what will make people leave in droves, then I would say the time for its removal couldn't come soon enough.

That being said many of us are pushing for something else. We'll have to see if it will get a green light or not, I guess.

It's not, Rigley. That's not where the sentiment lies. The prestige system can go, for all most of us care - the reasons why are what hurt.

But why? I do not understand why people are so invested in this?

f**k, if the system leavees, get over it and move on.

It still seems as a week way to get out of helping the characters, or maybe even fix the system. It didn't seem broken to me, but of what I've read here it seems that the issue was the balancing thing that everyone in power here seems to want. And to be perfectly honest, just about nothing is balanced in this game. But I digress.

Throwing away a system right after bringing it online and claiming some blatant BS reasons for it seems a bit under the table and dickish. I don't play Prestiges, and neither do I care to. However it is a real dick move in my opinion to throw away the system, along with people's characters that they worked for. It'd be like playing Fallout or Elder Scrolls for months, you get your character to how you want and then it cuts off and you have to start again. No one wants that, and if you didn't want the current system then maybe you could compromise.

Sure it didn't have one at the start, but that's just it. That was the past and even though people came here for the simple RP, they still tried to gain power and status through events and such. But since at one point in time a system DID come into play for the players, they used it. They made a prestige via posts, events, storylines, and etc. Sure it is just a game but when you spend several months working on essentially a piece of fan fiction for a game you like to play, it gets a bit hard to want to get rid of that character in a manner like this.

It's like playing any other game, where if you have the option to advance you will probably take it in order to achieve your goals.

There's my rant, even though I more than likely stepped on some toes there.

Hawk is an exclusive case.
He needs every single roll bonus point, and he still is very likely to lose.
Heck, you can give him a +98 and watch him roll a 1 and lose to natural 100s almost every time.

Jokes aside...

I actually wonder if this -was- the best way of approaching this even if you hold a valid point, Cressy.

Yeah, CotH is just a game. That doesn't really mean we're not entitled to our opinions or wants, does it? Most replies I've seen here, save a few, are simply voicing reasons and questioning the act. We're -simply- trying to reach a compromise that favors everyone (or so I foolishly believe), and frankly, seeking equal ground is an attitude that should be sought at all times, and not dismissed because the subject is of importance to some and not others. Importance is relative. Just because some of us don't care that much about the going-ons of CoTH, it does not entitle us to immediately dictate they're wrong.

Respect is our first rule, and I believe "respect" encompasses more than simply being polite to someone's face. It encompasses trying to accept everyone's views even if you don't agree with them.

Not to be rude, but this is probably the rudest thing I've ever seen you say. I know you're blunt and you don't suger-coat things, but god damn.
I love these family interventions. They are so colorful and great, especially when my uncle gets out the mossberg.

But that is beside the point, I understand that this is a game, but you may be the one taking it too far to call people out over their opinions, -on the internet- and -in a game-.
I am being honest, because some of you need to hear it.

Yeah, it is a dick thing to say..but when you are feeling hurt over this? Really? Reallly?
If you don't want to hear what people say or see that people will oppose you. Get out. Other than that, I just want to say in wake of your "really"

Spoiler:

I will speak with those who I actually can communicate with, without being insulted for having an opinion on my own time. Because I RP on my own time, I choose to care and be involved with the server.

Be respectful. At all times. This is not optional. Show respect to your fellow players, regardless of their faction or affiliation. We are all playing this game to enjoy it, and being rude or disrespectful to another player does not enhance anyone's enjoyment. If it enhances your own enjoyment, you undoubtedly do not belong on this server. Being respectful is easy enough if you think about it. Even players that you dislike or seem unable to get along with can be treated with respect. When all else fails, the IGNORE filter is in place for a reason.

Jus' saying.
I'm of the opinion there is no need to attack anyone in this thread, and that debating isn't really going to help. The decision was made and I doubt it will be backed down from. Rather than getting snippy at each other, it's best to enjoy the role-play for said characters while it lasts rather than wasting your time to argue over the internet. We all know how that goes:

Am I being rather passive about this? Yes, but I see no reason to type up a long rant about the issue already set in stone. People can protest as much as they want, but in reality, does that ever really work out? Rather than type out an essay about if this is good/bad, go back to RP and enjoy your characters while they still have their prestige. We all need to calm down and wait to see what this alternative idea might be. For all we know, it could be -better- than the prestige system.

And now, I leave you with adorable sleeping kitten.

I could say something, Brutal, about people asking for opinions and disliking them..then bitching about it.

But I won't.
