Chiming in to clarify something:
This thread is more arguing for the freedom to play certain sub-races that one could easily convey in-game with the standard model. Such as Forest/Ice Trolls, Blackrock/Dragonmaw Orcs, Dark Iron/Wildhammer Dwarves, and whatever else would fall into that, possibly even Taunka as it's just an issue of the face (That's just my own view though).
This is
not arguing for the freedom to play races that would be difficult to convey ICly through the player models. Things like Dire Trolls, Broken, and whatnot are too different in terms of the models and I agree, one must go through the CMC process for that character. We certainly do not want a lot of other races running around that should not be in great number.
But some of these, like Forest Trolls for instance, are indeed part of the Horde (Krom'gar's forces in Stonetalon have some Forest Troll members, for example, as well as the entirety of the Revantusk Tribe.) Ice Trolls might be trickier, as the only thing I can argue for them is the fact you could hire them as mercenaries in WC3. But the Dwarves (Excluding Frostborn as they are very few in number) and Orcs should be fine with their subraces, with the exception of
Chaos Orcs (
not Fel Orcs, there is a difference) and maybe Mag'har (even though there is shown throughout BC and even Wrath and Cata that their numbers are rather strong).
So, again, to clarify:
This is for the sake of being able to play conventional sub-races that one can convey through the Player Model and Emotes. It is
Not for the sake of being able to play full races or sub-races that would be hard to convey in-game and through emotes.
Thanks.
