And let's not forget murlocs. Everyone hates murlocs. Murlocs love everywhere with water. Lakes, seas, rivers, batht-

SO I was thinking, what's being done about the murlocs? You get the odd quest to go out and tank 'n spank a few, then come back with some fins, collect eyes, etc., but has there ever been any REAL martial movement towards them? Now that I think about it, it seems rediculous. They EAT people, for lack of a more eloquent phrase. So, why don't we walk over and kick a few in the head?

This being that they are a little taller than gnomes, with none of the brainpower.

...I'm sure IC'ly a group of...say 5-10 people could wipe out entire tribes. Well-armed, that is. Murlocs are famous for the fashioning of sharp sticks (DISCLAIMER: Murlocs have been charged with no such allegations.)

We have a healthy troll population with Murlocs as a natural enemy, I don't think it would be stretching to have a bunch of them come ashore and try to nibble troll feet.

There's lots of quillboar still around that would love to beat on Crossroads, especially since everyone in the area is over at Ratchet instead of guarding the base. That could be a cross faction event at least until Crossroads was safe and whatever Alliance happened to be there realized how bad of an idea it was to get involved.

Cenarians and Sillithids would be fun, the only ones that couldn't readily get involved in that would be the Shin'sholai and it would be another cross faction event.

I'd love to see more cross faction events in general, we get to see the byplay between those who are "open minded" *cough-carebear-cough* and those who are die-hard slaughter the other faction types (More Ripley!). Adding outside enemies to racial tensions as we get closer to the end of the world makes a lot of sense. Especially if the GMs have read some of the spoilers on Cataclysm and decide to kick the beehive a bit prematurely on some of those events.

Having a bloodsail pirate stumble into Bootybay screaming about Naga swarming down out of the mountains and up from the tide in the hundreds wouldn't change much about the world but might offer an amusing tale to tell the taverns for a handful of people who got bored one night while a GM was around to spread rumors through TIP.

Events don't have to be huge, just fun, right?

I completely agree with ya all the way. It would be nice to hear a bit more about these otherwise unknown races. Having a few events would also be really fun and stir up some imagination.

I totally agree wiff this. :>

AND YES HAWK, YES, OUTLAND, YES! /dance

I personally hate seeing 'em Ethereals, Consortium or not, just sitting there, staring at stuff and doing nothing. Not even gettin' a visitor or few. I mean really, some interesting RP could be made out of 'em. Like Outland RP. Other races too, yeah.

I just chose Ethereals because I'm effin' addicted to them and their lore.

Yeah, non-playable races should get love too, in my opinion. c:

We've had GMs in the past, like...when I was a player, that tried to do these fantastic and LARGE events...after about two months, they fell through. Since they relied so heavily on these three GMs, it was -all- they could do, they became burned out, and left...with us hanging onto these giant lore holes that couldn't be fixed.

Through trial and error, we've figured smaller scale events, over a period of time...with a lot of realism, make it easier for our size of staff. And hell, we are -still- trying to work out the kinks on that.

The events don't have to be large and don't have to be lore changing. Many cities and places are constantly under attack, the quests around that area send you out to stop the attacks by killing the leader, to get revenge, or simply to steal something back that was stolen from the quest giver. It'd be fun to participate in one of the attacks IC, all it would take is a GM to spawn the junk and take control of both the lead baddie NPC and a few people surrounding the town to get the word out of what's going on.

An IC Forum storyline started by a GM with the Rise of Hogger the IXth who wants to challenge Hogger the First's reign by moving further into Westfall to start trouble could give some people something to mess with, say a small group getting together (sign-ups for the event) then board RPing the adventure under the supervision of the starting GM. Others not a part of it could read the event as it builds up without having to be on and in game at a certain time. Instead keeping things more or less turn based with the posts, the GM posting the situation, each member of the event posting their reactions and so forth until the last confrontation which could be easily taken in game to finish up. Campfire RP, Investigation RP, Character Building RP and Action RP all rolled into one easy to handle storyline where the majority of work would be on the part of the players to discuss and figure things out with the GM becoming reactive instead of antagonistic until the last bit.

This might be more difficult than the traditional event style going on right now, but this is just one more example of something fairly small when compared with the cataclysmic events Blizzard does and when it's over there's nothing left but a couple of burned buildings and some bodies. The world moves on.
