It's possible that it was due to mis-comprehension or miscommunication, but without the name of that guild, I can't say for certain. The word itself isn't disallowed, but guilds focused on rule-enforcement in a public city/locale is (mainly due to past issues).

Thanks for the clarification, Kretol! I wanted to make sure before I went ahead with that article; I recalled reading an explaination why those types of guilds weren't allowed but couldn't remember if the names were monitored as well. It seemed like one of those common sense things.

I'll work on that tonight in my spare time. Those three topics are what I'll include, in addition to a link to the Guilds category. I may also update the main page of that category to include a link to the Guilds article. I'll also scour the forums again to see if there's anything else that may be pertinent.

All right, m'dears. Rather than tackle the creation of a new page I've been working on overhauling the prestige classes articles. I decided to start small. I've put them into a sort of "format" which is consistent across all of the articles while taking the large images that were on those pages and making them into thumbnails (most of them were overlarge for the articles). In addition, added short blurbs to the top of each article, as is expected of all articles.

I've also created a Class Titles template. This is a nice little table at the bottom of each article that allows readers to quick jump to another prestige class without going back to the category. Future prestige classes will need to be added to this template. It's a handy little thing that helps flesh out each article while providing subsequent information. Yays.

Once I've gone through all of the class articles, I'll write up a summary on the category page and then link it on the prestige title template and the specialize class titles article. It's very perplexing that neither have the expected link to the category that each article references, but I'll fix that, yes I will!

Afterward, I'll pick something else on my list of things-to-do. If anyone has a specific request, please feel free to reply to this post or leave me a message on my talk page. I tend to visit both the forums and the wiki throughout the day, so no worries there!

I've completed my work with the prestige title articles/categories for the time being. I've overhauled all of the existing articles, made thumbnails of the pictures, and cross-linked all of the articles so that people looking for information won't have to use the search feature multiple times just to make sure that they have snagged all of the pertinent information. As it was, there were three separate areas for these articles, but no way to easily find them.

I was, unfortunately, unable to edit the Specialized Class Titles article to include links to both the category and the Prestige Title Template, as well as other significant changes that would be appropriate. Since it makes sense that both of these should be linked from that original article, could someone with the appropriate permissions do so? I left a message on the talk page outlining the changes I feel should be made.

Miss Ironside has agreed to make a Beastmaster write up for the wiki and that will be added once she's complete. Isn't she the best?

Also, I changed around a handful of categories that were in the Class Titles category. Rather than using them for the articles themselves, I've turned them into categories to house the profiles of characters who have completed the requisite training (as was already in use for both the Necromancer category and the Witch Doctor category). If you have characters that have completed their training but haven't been listed in the appropriate category, let me know; this way, people can find potential trainers or direction when following the same paths.

Next on my list is either a comprehensive timeline of the Warcraft universe (including events that are considered canon on Conquest of the Horde; I'll need direction in making sure that those are correct) or the creation of the guild article. With the staff's permission and the community's help, also hope to flesh out the Guild category; it's frightfully anemic and I think that more guilds should have some sort of article on the wiki.

Just adding a quick comment!

Make sure to pass the new Beastmaster template (or any other written) through a GM first, just so we can make sure that it fits with our system and idea for how the prestige titles should be on CotH.

I'd already considered that, Nostra! It was my intent to wait until Ironside has had her application for the prestige class approved. Since the template requires rather specific descriptions of the powers gained and how they'll be used, it was my hope that that information would go into the article. At the very least, I could include the basic information she compiles as well as snippets from the WoWWiki article.

Thank you for the reminder! I'll toss a staff member (probably you, since you spoke up! Thanks for volunteering!) a copy before doing anything concrete.

That said, after using Wikicode for three days, switching back to BBCode is driving me bonkers. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've had to go over my posts with simple things like bolding or italicizing text just to make sure it was correct. I keep wanting to use double brackets in particular for links. Bleh!

Edit: Is this article on the Undercity correct? I stumbled across it while hitting the random page link. I never knew that non-Forsaken can't enter! If it is not correct, it should be updated. I'm also going to eventually link all of the capital city articles on the lore page because, well, they should be linked somewhere! No dead ends! None!

Hehe, that article is some old server lore, it could simply be deleted since it's no longer relevant.

Thanks, Nostra!

I'll remove the section about non-Forsaken, but keep some of the other content. I might also flesh out that article with pictures of scenic Undercity and maybe a little tidbit about either the history or something, while including links to other resources. That way, the article has content (removing content still leaves the tab; only a specific rank can physically delete a page) and people can use it as a reference if needed. I might also cross-link that article with the Forsaken category and -- when updates are done -- on the server lore pages.

Been a while since I last made an update on the thread, but I've been pretty busy -- both in-game and out! With Kretol's direction we've been doing a lot on the wiki to make it a more comprehensive resource about Conquest of the Horde.

In particular, Hawk has been a godsend in creating articles on each zone currently present in World of Warcraft. They're intended to eventually include information that you might want to note in your roleplay and any differences that might be present on our server that is different from retail. His work is nothing short of amazing and we should all be really thankful for the effort he's been putting into getting that done. You can check out the Ashenvale article for an example of the work he's been doing. Thanks, Hawk!

I also categorized pretty much every image that has been uploaded to the wiki. I have perhaps a dozen or so left before I can move on to the next project on my list. However, I did stumble across a lot of unused images. I think that most of these are leftovers from the old character profiles that were blanked out following the wipe, but I'm not too sure. So I've tagged them all as Unused images, where they reside in their own category. I'm going to most likely delete them within the next two weeks or so.

What I'd like is for the community to look over those images and make sure that they're fit to go. If they're supposed to be on a character article, please either add them to the appropriate article or contact me so that I can get that done (if you don't have a wiki account or don't know how to include images). If people want a copy of the images for their own personal collection, take the opportunity to save them before I get back to them. Some of them show a lot of effort and hard work, so their creators might want to keep them. I'll most likely post in this thread again within the week to remind people to check out those images.

My list of future projects on the wiki include:
  • Creating or fleshing out articles on each class and race
  • Creating class and race templates
  • Updating the help page and including a small guide on how to do basic edits
  • Create a guide category and then eventually transfer most of the guides on the forums to the wiki
  • Creation of a timeline with server-specific events included

I'd also like to get more guild articles on the wiki. I encourage guild leaders to get even basic articles up on the wiki or, if you lack knowledge of how to do so, let me know! I'm usually around during the day (the joys of being self-employed and working at home!) so I can help out doing that. I'm also considering starting a 'beautify my page(s) on the wiki' service, to encourage people to flesh out their character profiles more (perhaps similar to how I formatted Emese's article).

That's about it. Questions and comments are welcome, as always.

Those two 'forces residing' pics can both be deleted, heh. Needless to say I'm not good with pictures.

But I'd also like to hand a thanks to Piroska who's been assisting me in the formatting and overall making the pages a lot flashier. :> With her help I was also able to finally add the Horde/Alliance symbols to the page as well.

As promised, here's your reminder! I have placed all of the unused images into their own category. The vast majority of these images appear to be ones that were used on old character profiles and so have no home. However, this may not be entirely correct.

I will be deleting these images within the week!
If any of the images belong on an article, please either add it to the appropriate article or contact me so that I can do that for you. If you feel that you might want to save a copy of any of the images for your personal use, please do so soon. It is my goal to remove these from the wiki as soon as possible, though I do want to give enough time to ensure that these images should be removed from the wiki.

We've had some increased activity on the wiki recently, which is really awesome! I'd like to remind people that you can create an account for the wiki, however you should keep in mind that you can't edit articles willy-nilly (which hasn't happened yet, no worries!), though you can help out by updating articles. Be smart in your edits! If you plan on editing your character profile(s), please remember that you cannot retcon or substantially change the core of your profile; you can, however, beautify your article by adding pictures, formatting it using wikicode, or even adding more up-to-date information.

To spotlight such an example, I'd like to mention Ben's article on his dwarven hunter, Bolgron. He formatted the article to make it easier to read (yay!) and added a story called "Additonal Adventures" to the page. Overall, it's really awesome! (He also wanted me to mention that he learned how to do it in five minutes! If he can do it, so can you!)

That is all! As always, questions and comments are welcome.

Edit: I forgot to mention one very important fact. Profile articles should only be created by the staff. You may edit them when they are placed onto the wiki by one of our lovely GMs (and that includes you trial fellows!), but you cannot and should not create the article yourself!

Wow. This was highly needed.

Piroska, I still hate you and stuff but thanks for curing the Wiki of its illness of the old.

And I am still wondering where you get the power to do these things.

Guess what, fellow Conquest of the Horde players? It's been one week since my last warning and I'll be proceeding with deleting these images before the night is through. This is your last opportunity to contact me or place the images on an article. Otherwise, say bye, bye, bye!

I plan on getting a number of player-made guides up on the wiki within the next couple of days. I need to check with Kret, but I'm pretty sure that he wanted a special namespace for them. I can try to keep these up-to-date as people update their guides, but remember that you, too, can create a wiki account to update your own guides (or add new ones!). I'd like to see most of them dumped onto the wiki before the week's end.

I'm looking at getting class articles up as my next major project. Each article should have a brief explanation of what the class is, what races can play them, and links to resources that may help roleplay them. If there's anyone who would like to spearhead that project, feel free to reply here or send me a message. Don't let a lack of knowledge of wikicode prevent you from helping out; you can always post the article and then one of us can come back in afterward to format it and add images.

Edit: Also, I'll be updating the main page of the wiki with a new featured profile soon. In this, I just somewhat randomly pick a profile and toss it up on the front page for all to see. If you'd like to see one of your character profiles up there, here's a hint: profiles that have been formatted or have images usually are at the top of my list!

Oh ho ho! I have done something full of awesome and win (at least in my mind). Regarding the featured article and "Did you know..." sections on the main page, I've created two templates that will update the front page based on the current week of the year. These templates have been created because it allows me to queue a number of weeks ahead of time without directly editing the main page. Spiffy! However, it also means that I have to remember to update the template. Not so spiffy.

For the time being I've protected the templates since their contents directly appear on the main page. I might change this in the future.

As before, featured articles are currently selected by me. I tend to pick profiles with images because I like the idea of having a picture on the front page of the wiki. Other than that, a profile that looks neat and formatted will probably be bumped to the top of my list. These are the only deciding factors.

For the "Did you know..." section, I just select random facts from the most recently created articles and profiles on the wiki. This way, we can temporarily showcase new profiles and articles in a way that is fun and interesting. Yay!

I think I speak for everyone when I say a massive thank you to Piroska! The wiki was in serious need of an overhaul but thanks to your huge effort (as well as the contributions of a handful of others) has really tidied the place up, as well as making it more professional, easier to use, and more interesting to navigate.
