Remaking my pally as a Worgen? ( A discussion on Worgen )

Unless there's been a big change that I'm not aware of, the policy with regards to race changes has always been a simple "No." That said, the only feasible one before now was Human -> Forsaken.

As far as Worgen...I wouldn't place any bets that you'd be able to race change from Human to Worgen. I don't know how we'll handle this, though I'm sure it will be discussed. Likely, a lot of things will factor into this, like what the Worgen human-form model looks like, and how we might be able to rationalize non-Gilnaean Worgen not being crazy insane.

Sorry for the dismay. It's going to be a headache either way, though.

No dismay. (Took forever for me to get back to this topic.) Was brainstorming. Though I was not aware of a policy against race changes. This changes everything. :)

Spoilers contained below:

Just to throw in where Blizzard have messed up even more with their Worgen lore...the Goblin starting area. A head honcho SI:7 [for those who aren't familiar, the Alliance MI5/MI6/CIA/FBI/NSA/any other secret service spy agency] is a Worgen. How, mere days after the Cataclysm, this is possible, is FAR beyond my understanding. I'm not even sure the Worgen were part of the Alliance at that stage, since the Worgen starting area seems, to me, to take place over a larger period of time.

HOWEVER: During the Goblin starting chain, they are at sea for an indefinite period of time. This time could be months to years...somehow. Therefore it's possible that all goblin players are months ahead of everyone else in terms of Azeroth World Time [AWT]. This does go against their motto of 'Time is Money' though.

It can be possible for the head of SI:7 to now be a worgen.
Two reasons:
1). As a show of trust, Varian appoints the chief Gilnean spymaster as head of SI:7. Doubtful, but still.

3). The current head of SI:7 went to Gilneas to aid them against the undead. There, he was either visiting Fenrir isle to look after the refugees or was cornered by some undead when with the worgen. In either situation, he ingested worgen blood and BAM! Worgenfied.

To be in the area, the character would not have been present when the Greymane Wall fell. He was at sea moving Thrall to a more...secure, location. Probably. Following this he would not have been in the area of any Worgen as they would not have been in the Alliance at that time.

However, it is possible that the Worgen arrived with the Alliance reinforcements. Following this he would have to be trusted enough by Varian to be sent to field missions and not lose his mind and kill all the Alliance on the ship he's on. Doubtful, given Varian's paranoid state of mind due to the stuff he's been through. Personally, I reckon it's just to immerse Goblin newbs more in the feeling of the Cataclysm happening. Other than two islands blowing up. Lorewise though, kinda stupid.

Also, why would Varian see any need to trust the Worgen early on? The Night Elves are the only reason they've joined the Alliance, and I'm sure even Varian is aware that the Night Elves are responsible for EVERY bad thing to EVER happen in WoW, as a root. Heh, I dislike Elves :P

Actually, the war in Gilneas and Gilneas/Worgen joining the Alliance happens before the cataclysm. The worgen starting zone quests reflect this.

As AM180 said. The Worgen being adopted into the Alliance happens well before the Cataclysm. About 1/3 of the way through the Worgen questline, an event of Cataclysmic proportions occurs and yaay! Cataclysm!

As for the twilight comment a ways back. Not to be defending it or anything. *cough* but you do realize that story is actually about Vampires... and the werewolves within that story are in-fact not real werewolves. They are simply shape shifters who just so happen to take on the appearance of a wolf due to some Indian magic mumbo-jumbo a long time ago, which the Tauren spirit wolfs more closely relate than Worgen. I made the mistake of actually reading all the books. Anyway. I would have to agree about Blizzard's laziness lately, but give this some thought. The lore points in Cataclysm that actually meet up are far greater than the ones that do not.

On another note. Why are we so angry about this? I would have to say that the RPers who truly care about lore and the like are a part of CotH and if not yet, most likely will be eventually. How about we fill the voids that Blizzard leaves behind, eh?

Come Cata launch date and a few weeks/months prior, if Blizzard doesn't fill in the blanks I say we have a poll on certain lore points and eventually pass certain ones. Just a thought.
