While I understand your point about how the reaction to a formerly nearly unkillable killing machine is a little docile, I believe this to be more an OOC fault as I think a few of us in the community might not exactly have the courage to change OOC fact to IC action, as it would essentially make it so that their DK gets no RP except for being yelled at or joining evil causes and getting used and... Yeah, I hope you get my point. I'm not saying it's wrong, but I feel that it would simply leave there to be no point to playing a DK unless you RPed with other DKs or evil guilds or went rogue and decided to kill everybody, which, sadly for CotH, those three aren't so common outside of storylines. Point being: It's more to make it so DKs aren't scrounging for RP rather than to actually follow IC action. Not saying I do this myself, but meh.
As for engaging a DK in combat... That's a whole different story. Imagine it this way.
Mr. Fred the Farmer has a Death Knight in his field of crops, hacking away at the season's corn.
Mr. Fred the Farmer knows that Death Knights are a force to be reckoned with, and so his peasantly smarts tell him to not face him or he'll likely get mercilessly slaughtered. I mean, his cousins up in the Scarlet Enclave were murdered by these guys.
Mr. Billy Bob the Player hasn't exactly been in a situation of facing a killing machine and debating whether it's smart or not to attack it. Mr. Billy Bob the Player hasn't felt that fear, that anguish and sorrow that accompanies the sight of a Death Knight. Mr. Billy Bob just knows that if Mr. Fred the Farmer rolls high enough, he can stave the unholy monstrosity from his farm.
Mr. Fred the Farmer decides instead to make a heroic stand with his pitchfork and a torch. Miraculously, he stabs the Death Knight with the pitchfork seven times and bangs him over the head with the torch three, and next thing he knows he's got a Saronite-plated body in his fields. Did anyone observing mention the fact that Mr. Billy Bob the Player rolled over 80 with every shot?
It's the fact that the player of said farmer has never had to feel the inner pain, sorrow, anguish, vengeance, and most heavily -fear- of the sight of a Death Knight, so they just assume that said farmer wants to avenge their poor, poor cousins from the Scarlet Enclave over running for his life to seed corn another day.
(To note, this example is a made up scenario. If this has actually happened, I am -not- referring to said scenario at all. You never know.)
But, it seems the topic is being derailed! I digress!
DKs Summoning Steeds: Been Proven
DKs Summoning Weapons: Iffy at best, and some things point towards possibility, but there's no -solid- evidence... Why would a Death Knight be away from a weapon anyways?
DKs Summoning Armor: Either Blizzard's mechanical failures, or the fact there's even less evidence for this one than the above. Needless to say, why would a Death Knight need to summon his or her armor... That means he/she'd be walking through territory that is ambush and battle-savvy without armor, which is... A dumb move in itself.
Hope people forgive me for the possibility of huge post derailment right above there!
Anywho, I sadly must go get ready for SCHOOL. ONE MORE WEEK.
I'll see you lot later! /endrant
