A Conflict/War RP Zone?
#31
I know I'm just one of the new guys, so my opinion isn't likely to be valued as highly, but...

To simplify things down:

Wintergrasp - the high level conflict area, for those in their upper levels.
Halaa - a mid level conflict area, for those between 50-70
Feralas (or whatever the area with Ahn'Qiraj is called) - for those below 50 to have a place to RP conflict.

Basically you get all three up, and everyone can have some form of conflict to RP, even those without profiles that are stuck at 50.

I don't think using a high traffic area would be good overall, however. Mainly just because, if you have some people going into the area to do quests or just kill creatures (ie, taking a bit of break from RP for some mindless PvE fun), where they'd get trapped in conflict RP, when it wasn't really their thing. Not to say I wouldn't be up for doing some stuff like this, but I'd rather not be traveling through an area and have members of the opposing faction come up to RP attack me. Especially with the resurrection rules.

That'd be Silithus, silly!

Move him into the sun—
Gently its touch awoke him once,
At home, whispering of fields half-sown.
Always it woke him, even in France,
Until this morning and this snow.
If anything might rouse him now
The kind old sun will know.

Think how it wakes the seeds,—
Woke, once, the clays of a cold star.
Are limbs, so dear-achieved, are sides,
Full-nerved—still warm—too hard to stir?
Was it for this the clay grew tall?
—O what made fatuous sunbeams toil
To break earth’s sleep at all?

Wintergrasp would be the best, because it's out of the way, has no PvE aspects at all(PvP place), and people can't just 'stumble' upon it, as you need to fly to it. So if one doesn't wanna go, all they have to do it not go into the portal taking them there. ^.^ And I think there'll be no deaths. If you fall in battle, you are evacuated. This is to prevent the character death things that were happening alot during the Arathi War.

Also, if you're OOC, no one can attack ICly. If someone tries, you just say ((I'm OOC, just doing quests.)) and if they continue to bother you.. well then they're just getting themselves in trouble. <Shrug>

No no. If you fall you die Piken. You die. :P

Anyway, after you having pointed that out. Alterac isn't the best idea. ;-; I always forget about them damn traitors, Wintergrasp does sound better and better with each post.
Wow. Sometimes I forget the past.

I'm pretty sure by now that it'll be Wintergrasp. I'm already plotting things to do with the area, and how to get it all kicked off with an event and the like. It should be fine for anyone of any level to get there, the only thing we'll have to worry about is making sure there are portals there so the peons without flying mounts can get in.

As an RP zone, I adore Wintergrasp. But I'm not always in the mood for combative fighting. If, say, one of my characters were sent to Wintergrasp for an extended period of time alongside others, there would be more than just pure combat, I hope? I definitely want to see something done with the zone because it's so beautiful, but I'd hate to see it used for just one thing.

Well I'd think there'd be more than just "Rawr me smash you face!" as there still could be planning either among leader figures, or even among the infantry. Also, what if your character falls in battle? They're evacuated. I'd -think- back to the main base or some infirmary area, so you could always RP that too. Could even possibly RP just walking the perimeter and chit-chatting with someone during your shift or something. It won't be -constant-, imo, because not everyone will want constant. Even in battle situations, there are stand-stills where both(or all three) forces sit back and strategize and maybe only have small skirmishes here and there.

We're still working out the specifics, but generally speaking having a "war" is going to be the main focus of the zone. If you're in there, it'll be assumed that you're there for that purpose. You *could* try to have a picnic there, but if the enemy finds you...

.. They'll step on your sandwiches and annihilate your wicker basket in a sea of fire.

Anyways, I CAN think of other places in Northrend which are more beautiful than Wintergrasp.. Crystalsong is definately the most awe-inspiring place I can actually think of. There's next-to-no hostility there, and friendly (And maybe some not so friendly) Treants there. Perfect place for a picnic!

I can't say exactly that I'm looking for places more beautiful than Wintergrasp. I just happen to find it a wonderful place, but I'm not going to throw a fit or anything if I can't dick around. The whole of Dragonblight is also quite nice; whatever you do is fine with me.
