Stormwind Divided

I think it'd be an excellent exercise in realistic fighting and consequences. :)

I know that, for the Commoner’s Party, we’re focusing on the plight of the little people.

Stormwind, historically, has given workers the shaft more times than not. Beyond the whole ‘Have A Group Rebuild Our City Then Kick Them Out Without Paying Them’ business most of the shopowners and workers in Stormwind have, according to Land of Conflict, suffered from high taxes and poor wages.

Now, Blizzard’s never touched on the topic of unionization and the like because A) It was not relevant in a medieval world and B) it couldn’t be parlayed into EPIC VIOLENCE FOR GOLD AND POWER.

Reasonably, the status quo in Stormwind is ripe for a group to come about that is based on better wages for the workers and protection against crime and injustice upon them. Which is why a gang based around the Labor Unions of the turn of the century, goons and all, seems so timely.

I will be sticking with the entire gang plot taking place inside Stormwind, as it has been said, more gang interaction and a feel that the actions taking place are on -your- door step. No one is safe, is among the feelings I'm trying to spur.

As far as reasons for crime and gangs to spur up from Stormwind, again it has been answered. The lower class is being pressed down into the muck while the nobility weeps the profits, the middle class some where in between. Old Town itself is a bit of a slum. People are always looking to claw their way out of the depths of poverty, by any means necessary. And there are others who would love to take advantage of these gangsters to do their own bidding...

:)

Effectively, there's plenty of routes to go through, that is why I enjoy this idea greatly. The choice is up to the players to see how far their characters can go, and what sort of twisted plot will be thrown into the mix.

What about a gang of abused, downtrodden men and women that fled from their homes in order to form a new family, so to speak. (sons of child-beating parents, orphans, the jobless etc?)

I don't know. Maybe someone should make such a gang.

Crew did, does, and forever shall have a place in my heart. Along with the Gnomish Special Forces, and the Bloodsworn Honorguard it currently rests within my top three favorite guilds that I've been a part of since joining CotH. Well, the original Commoner's Party is definitely in there, but I figured for the sake of continuity I would just say three. :P

The Sons already have the Brotherhood background, so I can only imagine how furiously will they want to protect their pride and territory.

Any need for a neutral broker to arrange deals and agreements between the gangs? :D

Yep. :>

Anyone who doesn't join a gang is more than welcomed to interact with them. Get robbed by them, conduct business, sell stuff to them, all that good stuff.

We should actually set up a sort of a guild for these "rugged individuals" that is more of a quasi-guild between IC and OOC; they wouldn't be an official organization, but it would mean that they have an easier way of connecting to eachother. Hell, the guild could just be called "Rugged Individuals", and serve as a title as well as keep a web of connections, but in no way would they be having guild tabards or be part of any orngaization. I guess the three who are here will have to talk about it via PM.

"The Stormwind Underground" can be the quasi-guild blanket name for any criminal in Stormwind who has not direct affiliation with either gang.

Interesting. I may possibly think of bringing Piken in for this kind of thing, if I'm able to get WoW back and all. I'm sure there will be a lack of criminal Gnomes, so maybe I'll even it out a bit.

And <3 Beltharean for listing GSF as one of his favorites. ^.^

Could work! I was planning for most of the 'Underground' to be NPC's DM'd to give role-play to some of the gangs, but... Feel free to fill that role yourselves!

I am actually extremely interested in this, once I erm. . .finally extricate myself from the grasp of Skyrim!

I am drawn by Rosencrat's idea of trade unions and such, as I also have a certain particular love for the Defias Brotherhood; more importantly, their history as a Stonesmason Guild that was scorned and exiled by the House of Nobles. The whole proletariat versus bourgeoisie idea, between the few rich people and the masses of poor. . .

Perhaps we should see about making a Guild? A sort of workers guild or a Solidarity union or something? Communism? o.O

Not exactly talking about criminal organization here; rather, a political movement for revolution or something, probably going to fail, but yeah.
