The Society is now doing in-character recruitment.

While recruitment will never close, if you want to get involved at the beginning of the guild, it's encouraged for you to reach out and message myself or another member to get started in the in-character recruitment process. We will be holding a Recruitment Banquet next week; while not a cut-off date, but it can help to join before then.

Skype (Rosencrat) is a great way to get a hold of me. Also it will allow you to join our Skype Group.

I like the idea behind all this very much, except for one thing that -really- bothers me:

"And also like the Kirin Tor, the organization works towards policing their own, trying to recruit non-aligned warlocks and hunt down ‘Hedge’ warlocks that try to operate beyond the Society’s rules. "

I don't know if that comes off as wrong because of the wording, but I cannot agree with the fact that this Society takes the liberty to hunt down any non-affiliated fel users. If it is done of their own accord, illegally, without receiving permission to do so from the Alliance / Horde or the Kirin Tor, then it's fine. But if it is insinuated that they do, then no. Not now, not ever. No player based organization should have the ability to infringe on someone else's RP.

This is a point a fair few people have brought up as well, so I think it may be a good idea to clarify:

The Society recieves no permission from any outside faction, Alliance or Horde, to function as a 'police force'. Their work to police non-Society Fel-users is done, as you say, on their own accord. They believe that they know the proper way Warlocks should act and have decided to take a pro-active stance in pushing that 'proper way'.

Also, from an OOC stand-point, the Policing RP is not forced. The Society's Police Force have strict instructions that they whisper their intended targets beforehand and explain what sort of role-play they want to initiate with the player. Because of how the the Policing RP would be iniatiated, players can very easily opt out of it with a logical IC explanation as to why they wouldn't be seen as a Warlock.

Policing is also not recruitment. Though fel-users who are approached by the Society will be given an invitation to join as a member along with the usual schpeel about responsible fel use, most of the Policing is focused on creating Associates. Members are the one who role-play with the Society and are active in the group. Associates are just normal characters (And members of other guilds/factions) who follow their own goals and just agree to follow the Society's rules while they move about the world freely.

The 'Policing' is intended as a way to involve people and spread the Society's RP beyond the walls of their little manor. The Society's goal, after all, is to create an inclusive RP storyling that anyone, at any time, can enter into and enjoy.

Also, recruitment will no longer be handled by in-character invitation. People who OOCly wish to become a member should speak with a guild officer. A Hunter will be sent to your character to recruit them.

Significant changes have been made to the main post to reflect the new direction it will be taking.

We've scrubbed up the main post and tinkered with the descriptor to make the purpose of the Society more clear.

The Society has also moved its operations to Booty Bay and are now working towards purchasing a boat.
