However, escort can also mean Reigen that they don't -just- have sex. Sometimes, yes, that's the job they are called to do, but a lot of times like the Geisha they can just dress nice and look pretty while following some poor sap that has to pay to have a good looking person at their side. It's to me less blunt than saying "Hooker" or "Prostitute" when making the character.


...But the interesting twist? Doesn't mean that people won't paint that character OUT that way.

I don't think people should have to switch RP location because of the type of people that are there.

If people are uncomfortable RPing around prostitutes and one of them comes around doing their thing (Doing their thing as in advertising themselves ICly) then those people are forced to deal with something they don't like, or leave to another location.

So long as the character is not outright soliciting and the character isn't made solely for ERP, everything is fine?

Of course, that's what I was saying earlier.

Playing a prostitute should be allowed, but not publicly. If they are a profiled character they should have so much more to them to make them playable in public RP without having to bring up their being a prostitute.

Sounds like the general consensus, however, I think it still needs to be deliberated on by the powers that be?

Gotta ask Grakky, where did this question come from? Quite a... risque one to put up.

Let me answer this one because I never did quite get around to it.

It sparked from a discussion among the GMs upon seeing some of the RP going on around some players. I hate to point out names, but I'll say that a good example of this (I'm sorry, Rose!) was the events around the Solheim Society's banquet. When you have a potion/alcohol being passed around that, for lack of a better way of describing it, induces lust while everyone is playing a game that potentially involves stripping...well.

Now, granted, I don't believe that it was anyone's intentions to start up an ERP orgy. Knowing the people involved, it was likely done because it appeals to a certain sense of humor rather than any attempt at getting ERP. But the situation nonetheless made one of us ask where the line is drawn.

Honestly, I'm of the opinion that so long as people aren't being -painfully- blatant about their naughtiness, it isn't a problem. I realize that is a broad statement, but do you really want me to sit here and list off all the different situations it is relevant to?

As far as 'Raunchy Group Games' go, I say so long as people are warned about adult themes and those under 18 are asked to leave, then it shouldn't be problem, and only taken out of /say if people who are not ok with it are around to witness it.

I don't see legitimate, 'pay me gold' hookers happening any time soon at least in terms of practice - though I see no harm in saying your character -was- a prostitute at some point in their history.

In Renaissance usage, the Italian word cortigiana, feminine of cortigiano ("courtier") came to refer to "the ruler's mistress", and then to a well-educated and independent woman of loose morals, eventually a trained artisan of dance and singing, especially one associated with wealthy, powerful, or upper-class men who provided luxuries and status in exchange for companionship.

They were prostitutes in the sense that sex was one of their obligations, but unlike the average prostitute, sex constituted only a facet of the courtesan's array of services. For example, they were expected to be well-dressed and ready to engage in a variety of topics ranging from art to music to politics.

Just so that we're all on the same page on what these meanings are.

I always thought courtesans were just for blending in and hiding from guards. Also to laugh at for having weird, bulbous horns for hair.
