Goblins and Worgens CONFIRMED as next two races
#31
I don't think they'll release High Elves. They already released the Blood Elves to even out Horde-Alliance in retail, and having a "Pure Elf" (No fel green eyes, slightly spooky eyebrows, dark skin color) would definitely tip the servers in favor of the Alliance. Almost everyone would flock to roll a Female High Elf Hunter or something like that. Worgen seemed odd for me at first, but just as plausible as any other race. Maybe.

Move him into the sun—
Gently its touch awoke him once,
At home, whispering of fields half-sown.
Always it woke him, even in France,
Until this morning and this snow.
If anything might rouse him now
The kind old sun will know.

Think how it wakes the seeds,—
Woke, once, the clays of a cold star.
Are limbs, so dear-achieved, are sides,
Full-nerved—still warm—too hard to stir?
Was it for this the clay grew tall?
—O what made fatuous sunbeams toil
To break earth’s sleep at all?

Blizzard:
"Hey, I have an idea, let's make more goblins come from Argus in a spaceship, chased by the burning legion, crash-landing on Azeroth and then joining the Alliance because the Orcs are mean."

Ah well, just fooling, the Draenei aren't too a too bad concept and they fit in just nice.

Goblins scream to be playable... But... Another sort of faction must pop up in order to get them playable, "The Neutral" -_-

The High Elves could join them, perhaps the Murlocs, what about the Zandali Trolls?

What if it's High Elves?

Just want to say that as far as I can tell, High Elves are still cool with the Alliance, more-or-less.

Murlocs seem a bit on the WTF stupid side (note: Murlocs have always been a slave race, since they got owned by the Naga/Illidan, and generally bow down to any water-type creature that's bigger than them), and besides that, they would always lose a fight unless grouped up with four or five other Murlocs, needing at least 20 for a 5 man raid/dungeon :P.

I don't know a lot about them Zandali Trolls, to be honest. If I remember anything at all about readin' up on 'em on WoWWiki, they were pretty neutral-prone, so joining a "neutral faction" might be possible.

Why wouldn't Furbolgs be a good available option?

Furbolgs -are- a good idea. They already have the potential to have shamans, warriors, hunters. Throw in some of Blizzard's trusty lore mess-ups and you can have Priests too!

Maybe even Furbolg Death Knights with eyepatches!

Rogues would be almost viable, considering they don't have hooves.

I wasn't being serious ;)

Would be cool to have Goblins and Worgen playable, but Blizzard must really mess with the lore in order to get something out of them.

They've done it before, they can do it again!

Personally, I fail to see why everyone jumps to the conclusion that this would screw with the lore.

The Worgen are, in general, beings from another dimension, similar to the Draenei.
Quote:Cursed beings from another dimension, worgen only appear in Azeroth as the result of magical mishaps. True aberrations, they are accidentally drawn through temporary rift tunnels and deposited in this world with no apparent way of returning. Nothing is known about the worgen's home realm, or even precisely how to spawn the rift tunnels through which they come.

If anything, having some sort of magical mishap is something I consider pretty plausible, especially considering this same kind of magical mishap could open up the Emerald Dream for classes other than druids for whatever reason.

I doubt making the worgen playable would be lorebreaking, but rather it would just be a bit of a stretch.

As for goblins... well I've always hated them and now it'd just mean I get to step on player-versions of the little green things.
As someone wise once said, the important thing is never to be fearless or confident. Most people have more than enough trouble with both. The trick is to fake it, because if you learn to fake it properly, it's the same thing as actually having confidence.

Adding the goblins as a playable race seems fairly easy to do. Just have a starter area as was mentioned before, with the choice to side with the Alliance or Horde at the end of a quest chain. They get hired to one side to fight. Unless there's a problem with that...?

Quote:Fiercely territorial creatures, they rarely stray from the general vicinity of the place in which they first appeared. Fearless beasts, they brazenly prowl near both villages and monster lairs. Although worgen display an apparent fondness for nighttime and its darkness, they can perform equally well in the daytime.

Pure killing beasts, worgen tend to attack any creatures that they encounter, regardless of whether animal, humanoid, Scourge or something even more fearsome. Strangely, however, worgen refuse to feed on the remains of their victims, preferring to shred and tear the corpses and then to return immediately to prowling

It would "screw with the lore" since the Worgen has allways been portrayed as "Pure killing beasts", they simply aren't the kind one would think would ally with anyone, least of a group like the Alliance with their meaty dwarves and snack-bite gnomes.

Of course, Mikain linked to some obscure, old NPC from on of the RPG books that would make that null... honestly, it can't be worse than the squidfaces or them bald babies and their toys. Besides, it's two masks in the files, for all we know it could be for a quest.
All makt åt Tengil, vår befriare!

And here is where you must remember the use of the word 'speculated' rather than 'confirmed.'
