Uhm.... Not sure if it was mentioned already, but IC things remain IC and IC only. Don't get offended by them

I think it should be made clear too, that IC racial hate is pretty appropriate considering the setting we play it, however OOC it can get old when people drag out the same stereotypes all the time.

However, another side of the coin, I think sometimes people can be too sensitive about generally harmless things. Yes, there are those that maliciously try to flirt the line with what's acceptable and what's not, but in my opinion I've been wondering why people get so offended over certain comments about race and such.

I guess what I'm trying to get at is, do we really want to become that sensitive, where we worry about such things OOCly? If someone says Tauren (My Favorite race) are big beasts, or Blood Elves (...Admittedly, my second favorite race) are sorta like rabbits, is it really that harmful? I think it could foster some very strange protective habits and feelings among the community.

To phrase this another way--- it's already hard to have a character that has these traits (Racism) without having the hurt feelings spill to the OOC. Seriously, it's damn near impossible to play a character that doesn't tolerate interactions between the factions because it feels like only a handful do that anymore.

That last part goes into a whole different topic, but I think it holds hands with this one nicely. And it's something I've been sitting on for a while.

Personally I think its less 'this offends me' and more 'this annoys me'. It's not like I'm going to get -offended- if people keep tossing around lolpunt jokes on my gnomes, 'cause it's honestly expected and all that. It can be annoying if its a bad day, though.

...But eh. Even then, its still just a minor annoyance. Thing is, most of the racial jokes that spring up like that are all ones that Blizzard seems to love to bring up as well; heck, in one quest they lump a belfman in a dress into a group of women to choose from in one of the 'day deathwing came' stories, and the troggs in the gnome starting zone were probably gaze the ability to punt for a reason. :I

...I guess what I'm trying to say is that I find it fairly harmless, overall. Annoying at times, but I can't bring myself to get that worked up over it. Different people have got different reactions though.
*Gasp* Necromancy! Be gone, foul abusers of morality!
I think it's more the repetition that's irritating, hearing the same tune over and over again. I don't know if anyone's had their feelings hurt over it but it can get on the nerves after awhile.
I'm still highly annoyed with pantsless Doran jokes OOCly and I still be plenty of them.

But simply put, if someone asks you to stop, it's best to stop. Annoying someone with silly jokes just isn't great and can ruin someone's day. Maybe they were gonna RP with someone then got chased away out of annoyance. Then someoe else's RP is ruined and it could make a domino effect of unpleasantness.

This a happened to me before. Es no bueno.
I think people need to relax a bit on the annoyance part, too. Think about that just because one person's said the joke and been told off doesn't mean the next person knows it's such a great annoyance. Keeping that in mind when subject to these jokes would be rather wise since that helps reduce hostility in the server's social environment. New players or players that aren't online as often as some others can be very put off by being jumped because they didn't know a certain joke has been said too many times before already.

Hopefully that'll take the perceived "malice" out of the joke in the future, too, and decrease the annoyance that comes from them. Having all of these "DO's and DON'T's" floating around as invisible rules on the server's really not going to help the community.

*flails*
Exactly what I was getting at Loxxy, glad people are understanding what I was trying to say, heh.
Remember guys: jokes are only funny if everyone's laughing.

Sit back, take a deep breath, exhale. Take it in good fun- but if people ask you to stop, don't be a hard head and just stop.

:D
So hay.

I'm usually not one to complain about stuff like this, buuut...figure I'd try to nip this in the bud, as it were.

I'm starting to understand the folks that got tired of the ragging on blood elves. I've picked up on a bit of disdain for the amount of worgen RP.

We get it. There's lots of worgen. The women look like chihuahuas.

We done yet?
^

I agree with this. Playing both Belves and enjoying Worgen this is a bit played out.

Most people who complain about not getting their RP, idle in OOC Zones. Don't mean to instigate, as it is only a minor inconvenience to me atm. People need to realize we're different and like different things. You like Tauren, Orc, Dwarf RP start some. Its possible. Regiment did it, Draenic Pilgrimage did it, The Black Harvest raised the forsaken population almost by itself. No reason to hating on something that appeals to another just because it doesn't appeal to you.
I may not like Worgen and I may not even have hoped ingame since cata but... even I've seen some mean stuff said about them that I would hate to be said about the trolls or some other race almost as good >.<
... Not this crap again.

Just be quiet and...

Now, I don't wish to defend those that are expressing their frustration over this issue in a negative manner. However, I also think that "if you want this type of RP, start it" is something that gets said often when it is simply unrealistic.

Last several times I've logged in-game, the vast majority of RP has been Alliance. Usually, this is in a very faction-specific location, often Stormwind. At the same time, I see the occasional person ask for Horde/Belf/whatever RP on LFG and getting no response at all whatsoever. Citing guilds that have sparked race-specific RP is nice, but not everyone has the necessary skills and/or time to put in to making a huge guild together like that. (And, even when they do, such RP is hardly consistent.)

So, please everyone. Stop saying "If you want this RP, start some." It's NOT that easy all the time.
Not upset, but just saying.

No some people can't get RP going. Its true. But at least people are Rping. Months ago we logged on, nobody was RPing. I see 8 people in stormwind. I make an ally get out of my comfort zone and make a few friends. Then hash it up with new friends and make the RP you look for. Happened to me, I got the infamous Bovel to role a Belf. He didn't care for the race, *to my knowledge* but I met him half way by rolling a char in the Draenic pilgrimage.

If someone says I WANT THIS and there are only 30 online, someone isn't going to get what they want. Its give and take. And complaining that people like 'whats in' isn't fair. I'm just happy people are Rping again. I'll role whatever. But we all have our preferences. Regardless of how difficult it is, it is possible.
Spoiler:

I think that about sums it up. Spoilered for a bit of language.
