STOP PUNTING GNOMES

I remember that before my return there was an OOC guild based on punting gnomes. ;_;

When I play my gnome I always get /pat. When I play my Tauren I always get /hug or /pet. My only problem is that there is no /shrug.

On the original topic of the thread: I see some elf hate now and then but usually think it's just some joking among players and everyone's fine with it. But if a people are okay with allowing themselves to loudly proclaim their hate of a certain race in OOC then I think they need to remember that the #1 rule of CotH is respect.
Howdy, all!

I'm bumping this as it's been brought to my attention that we're becoming awash with this type of behavior again. Just remember that OOCly bashing races (or fellow players' race choices), off-color gender/sex/race comments/jokes, and the like may not offend you, but it could offend your fellow player(s). So, be mindful in the OOC zones and the forums. If someone asks you politely to stop, please do so rather than telling them to "lighten up" or mocking their sensitivities.

Thank you very much!
Hug
Thanks for bringing this topic back up. I always think about it here and there but was worried about necroing it.
I may not have been in game much recently, but I've noticed it on the rise again. I think it would bee good to be read over again as a reminder.

And I guess they should be happy with all their Belf complaining. Me getting Belf RP is exceedingly difficult these days.

Aye, I've noticed that, too. :(
I think more than 75% of the server has a BElf character on their character list. So, I don't see why everyone bugs people about being a belf. :c. I wanted some Belf RP in Silvermoon but could never find any... If I did it was always closed which saddens me.
This is why I am an outspoken proponent of the Elf Civil Liberty Act. This act would make it a bannable offense to make fun of elves, and it would require that elves be forced to RP in their homelands.

EDIT: In response to the recent post!!
Well yes. And it gets beyond Blood Elves. We all make silly jokes, even I do! But there's a line to draw and I feel these days it's crossed a little bit much. Again. And on more grim topics than blood elves, too.
So, I will agree, it is getting worse, but yes I make jokes about punting gnomes all the time :3 Though I personally dislike playing gnomes and/or any Alliance race, actually I would hope most of us can control our race bashing :P I will stop stomping gnomes so much in light of this post :P (I'm not saying I'll stop gnome stomping wholly, but who can stop? :D) For every gnome I've stomped, please don't take offence :3
Casting thread necromancy.

Though I'm slowly finding the OOC remarks about Doran's appearance rather annoying. I know he's not the pinnacle of manly-man and that he "doesn't have pants". I do enjoy a good joke, but every time I log onto him? It can be very annoying after a while. Especially since I've played him for over a year.

I think the best way to tell if I'm in the mood for one of said jokes is if I start it off. Otherwise? I think we all know what he looks like.

Pls and thnx
As someone who's returning after a long (long. LONG.) hiatus, I can safely say that I'm out of the loop with a lot of things. But, the hate does still circulate every now and again. Primarily with Blood Elves, but it's actually with a LOT of the races. I saw it before I left, and I still occasionally see it these days. I can say that I'm guilty of doing it once or twice, but these days, I honestly just really don't care. People will play what they want to. And that's not a bad thing! It's when people are ridiculed out of playing a certain race that there's a big problem.

I think a lot of the time, people say things without thinking about what they're saying, who's feelings they might be hurting. After being gone so long, I'm actually pretty timid about asking for RP. And it's silly, I know it is, but it's made me refrain from playing two of the characters that I absolutely adore and crave RP on - my Gnome, and my BElf. Moreso the latter, really, but there's always that paranoia that if I say, "Hey, anybody want to RP in Silvermoon or Dalaran? My nerdy BElf lady will be there," I'll get the response, "LOL BELVES ROLL SOMETHING ELSE." I feel like I'm therefore forcing myself to wait until I see RP where either characters might jump in, and it shouldn't have to be like that, for anyone.

Let people play whatever race they want. They're not outwardly effecting you. If they're starting up BElf RP? Let them. Start up RP somewhere else with a different race, or a bunch of different races. A lot of people play a variation of characters - what they like and dislike is their own opinion, but outwardly hating on some races or thinking certain characters are significant to others because of race is just rude.

TL;DR: I just had a silly idea for an IC anti-racism guild with tye-dye t-shirts. Someone fund it.
Roleplaying a Belf isn't that bad. It's just that in my case, I wish I wouldn't have so many, yet when I look at my characters' personalities, they fit best as blood elves. I kind of feel dirty as a result, because though belves are okay, they're not my favorite. At all. I'd rather have more draenei, especially males as draenei males get a lot of hate almost everywhere in the Blizzard community.

I'd rather not go into the discussion of racial hate, as in several ways, I find that a dead horse topic. So instead, I'll get into character jokes. In relation to Sachiko's frustration with Doran, I've had several for Kapre where while I enjoy the derp jokes, I really dislike OOC stabs at his masculinity just because of his habitual cowardice in the face of personal danger. This especially annoys me because these people were never present when Kapre defended others when they're in danger at the expense of his own safety, especially if it's Xanthe in the line of harm. I'm fine with derp jokes, but not "masculinity" jokes, especially if they're based on traits that do not define or disprove masculinity at all. These jokes are often in the form of saying Kapre is too weak to win an arm wrestling contest with a gnome or he'd rather have chaos happen in his parties rather than step up and kick them out.

I can't wait until someone pisses him off IC. You will see the wrath of a gentle giant whose patience does indeed have its own limits.
Happens to me every now and again. Play a Human? People almost seem to completely disregard their cultural differences in certain kingdoms, regions, or parts of regions. But, y'know what I do? I shrug it off and either joke around about my characters as individuals, or change the subject. I find that tactic much better, because those who said the potentially harmful words don't feel bad about it and then feel shunned from the community. Forgiveness, dear sirs and madams! It is wonderful!

...My two coppers.

Already expressed my bafflement to Immy, but I wanted to bring in an expert to Kapre's masculinity (besides Xanthe):

Gaston says your argument is invalid, peasants.

With the rate Kap's jealousy is going, I imagine we'll see his angry side soon. Excite (and scared, a little). :3
