Can you give a rough direction?
West, just outside the town, under the big tree.

Anyways, though, I want to see this -at least- given a chance. You never know how it'll go if you never try.
I believe this is a great idea. A place where evil-doers can threaten people, discuss plans, etc., without interference from guards. And where good-doer can... err... do.. good stuff?
This could either be a great place for your characters to hang, or a total screw up.... might as well give it a shot. In my eyes, both of those options could be a good thing
It crossed my mind that the point of the lawless town is perhaps to bring back rp that was happening before the change from arc to trinity. I do remember the time where roads such as going from the Gurubashi Arena to Booty Bay had traffic, and because of that you could have things like muggings, or killings, or taking slaves, etc. Come the new core, however, there was a lot of aggro from high level mobs, or just mobs that were a few levels above you. I remember getting killed even traveling through a place as harmless as Elwynn forest, even while staying on the roads.

I am not sure if a lawless town would fix that, but it just seemed that people were more likely to stay in one spot rping because let's face it, it's a hassle to have to emote and then fight off a random mob. This is just an observation, though, I don't feel like we should change a location or a place, but find a constructive way to deal with aggro.
I chose nay, why? I just didn't get the vibe to choose yay. I can't explain it but something just tells me to vote no.

Yay, yay I say!
I don't think its due to aggro on the road's, though that is a seporate thing that does bug me a little ;p. I just think it's irritating that its a kinda RP I enjoy and it seems many others do by what I can gather from the votes, but if we want to do it we have to organise it OOC to just happen and come across each other in some random area in the wilderness. Was just in my head that surely there could be implemented a small place where this stuff could happen where people who enjoy this kind of RP could congregate so we don't ruin the RP of others by springing it on them, as you would know if someone is there then that kind of RP interests them, and we can enjoy it in a great little environment for it.

Would allow for greater diversity of different forms of RP, rather than forcing people to stay out of towns, and out of anywhere where RP could regularly happen, if we wanted to RP this way.
I'm sure there'll be a pre-existing town or camp that has no mobs and is unused. Just set up there, much easier. I'd do the bloody searching myself, but for family...issues, not allowing my to get my computer yet. I'd check Stonetalon and Feralas first, personally.
An advantage to this solution is that, with Cataclysm, the camp would naturally move away from devastation and new opponents.
Okay so what is the status on this town?
I agree, its been up for a few weeks and it seems 69% of us are in favour (Or, if you guess half the maybe's are yes, and half are no then it would be closer to 73-75%)

So have the GM's come to some sort of conclusion over how possible it is? If we know it could get the go ahead, then we could all start figuring out a suitable location as a community effort :)
I don't get a good feeling about this idea...it seems to me that while yes, it could work, it could only -ever- work in a vacuum. As in, humanless. When people get involved, the power vacuum will be vied over, and the winning side will most likely establish a government of some kind. This leads to laws and regulations, which is the death of this idea.
Or the start of some great RP? :)
If someone managed to take over the town, I think it would be great fun to rp the struggle to get it back. Plus, it would be the only place where you genuinely COULD take over an area, as NPC's are more powerful than player character's it seems on this server, or they vastly outnumber player characters.
Ooooh smart idea Miag, when I think about it in a way where someone takes over the town and tries to run it. Whiles others may try to take it over and run it. Feels like a Mafia sort of thing.
While yes, there -has- to be some sort of government or leadership to have control over the town, who's in control is up to anyone. A group of Paladins could try to bring law and order to the forsaken village, while a band of business man attempt to reap the profits of an underground black market.

There's -a lot- of things that can happen, which will lead to someone gaining command, and its either you support them, you don't care, or you want 'em dead.

I still think we should give this a shot, I suggest that one island (Yeah, way to be specific), I forget its location, but its out of the way, has a few buildings and such... Anyone know what I'm talking about? Has a jungle? D:
