I second Danalthar's idea.
I don't have any direct 'brutal honesty' for individuals that hasn't already been said.
The favoritism is an issue. Sure, there's going to be a bit of it whereever you go, but, in my journeys through various RP communities in and out of WoW, it's a bit more prevalent here than other places. Here, staff is generally picked on based on who knows who, versus recruiting willing volunteers who step up to the plate. So, I feel that gives more opportunity for that favoritism to come into play. More neutrality would be nice.

Also I get the impression there isn't a whole lot of organization going on backstage. I could be very wrong, but things feel disheveled at times.

'Nuff said.
Quote:Since you've become a GM, I don't really know who you are anymore.

I've seen this so many times, probably every GM has been accused of it by at least someone, I'm not gonna give an opinion on whatever it is your are specificially on about, but in general I think most of the time it's not the GM changing but rather a person's perception of their actions that change. Also, the GM does have a lot of responsibilites which might affect their interaction with you (not you specificially, but you in general, hehe). Some times it might seem like they're burshing you off, or flat out ignoring you, something you would never have gotten from your 'old' friend, likely they are just busy with something, maybe there's a player trolling? Or maybe they are reading profiles? Or building or... well, a ton of stuff, heh.

Just something one should keep in mind if a friend turns into a GM.

More OT, I don't really have any criticism to offer, but I think one thing that could help is seeing more GM interaction with people, especially on the forums which I could help people get 'accustomed' to the GMs. It's hard to 'fear' someone who you see daily, hehe.

On the other hand, I know it can be tough engaging in discussions you've seen a dozen times or so, especially if you've just spent an hour or two reading profiles.
Welp, here goes.

No, I don't mean you guys aren't on the forums or in game RPing. I mean, rarely are there any meaningful storylines being put into place on the server.

I know a lot of people, current GMs mostly, that hated the Sin'Sholai event, but when it was active people were doing things, they were forced from their comfort zones and they were given these..well, amazing experiences. Fighting, hell, killing for what they believed was the right things for a people...I mean, I dunno. I know a lot of people disliked all the events that happened, but it just is boring now.

Several people haven't been coming because of the lack of storylines on the server. I know, I know. Kretol doesn't want to do conquest or storylines that may change the lore, but gosh darnit, you have to do something to keep things fresh and alive. It is just...stagnant at this point.

Kretol had threatened us at one point that if the storytellers or profiles weren't getting done, that we would be removed from staff. Maybe you should implement that again to keep people working? I dunno, or remove people from staff who are busy with IRL stuff. Why have five inactive GMs who come and go when life calms down, when you can have five other active GMs who aren't really busy and can do stuff.

You guys need to grow some balls. I say this to Kretol and Loxxy all the time, but you guys let people walk all over you. You are supposed to be in control of what happens on the server, and I just...I see players telling you guys off and just break rules...And nothing. :c

[Image: pink_whale_by_vale_ska-d35gmrw.gif]I love you guys, really.[Image: pink_whale_by_vale_ska-d35gmrw.gif]

I have no idea what to say. I had a bajillion ideas, but then I realized I tell you guys how I feel about the server and you guys as a staff (well atleast the ones on vent) all the time.

I am answering this in the quick reply box. I have read nothing above except the original post. No, I will not TL;DR, so if this has already been said, I regret nothing;

Stop worrying about what other people/servers think of CotH administration and general going-abouts. It doesn't matter. I've been to some of these other servers. My personal opinion? Garbage. Complete garbage, in stark comparison. This is me being blunt. No fancy grammar structure. CotH, before it started cozening up to being open and all :DDD, is 100 times better than anything someone else could cough up. That's my honest opinion.

What this means is you, the GM's shouldn't really give a damn if people are pissed off at you. Let them fire off their hormonal fury, because in the end it doesn't matter, and CotH carries on being its dandy great self. Honestly, has anyone else seen the kind of community other servers produce? I was disgusted.

I'm going to end this on that note. It's warm and fuzzy inside.
I admit, the lack of storylines on the server is an issue.

I personally couldn't keep the Frostbrand story afloat ( c wut i did thar ) because of rl, and I'm starting to worry if I can even get TAO up and running.

I feel like a lot of potential storylines flop on the GM's hands either due to activity, lack of motivation, or outcry from the player base...

Speaking of outcry, The storyline behind Marianna's Ziggurat and in general, most of the 'evil rp' that particular group was organizing, could of been a great chance to get some rp going. But everyone and their mother screamed bloody murder about certain people being too strong, without considering that maybe the GM's wouldn't let it get that far.

Yes, I know we want a level playing field, but sometimes the designated villain needs to go super saiyan for the sake of the storyline. Same goes with the odd good guy. If everything is 'fair and balanced', then storylines will simply stagnate.

"But it's one thing when it's a super powerful NPC! These storylines involve super powerful PCs!"

Yes. They occasionally do. Super powerful PC's who can't so much as sneeze without GM approval.

You can have no risk, or you can have storylines, but you can't have both.
Quote: can't so much as sneeze without GM approval.

... Ara'Gazhi sneezes regularly without GM permission.

But, on a more serious note, I'd tend to agree, Clovis. Just because an idea for something terribly powerful rears its ugly head doesn't mean it should be instantly denied. Does the player's plans for it have it reaching fruition? Is someone supposed to, in the story, come along and ruin everything? Because I don't like it, does that give me the right to cut it short early by killing someone vital because of that OOC dislike? All are questions, plus others, that should be considered when dealing with power-gaining storylines. Oh, and thr all-important "What if this is crucial to character development? Do I still have the right to end it as I see fit, or does that give me less of a right to?"

My nth two bits.

Edit: Those are questions aimed towards not the GMs who approved the ide, or who weren't fond of it, but the players who tend to QQ about power-mongering RP.
I agree with Clovis and had personally been trying both OOC-ly and IC-ly furthering the cause of the entire Ziggurat stirrings which I thought to be extremely fascinating and interesting, the idea of creating a Scourge Ziggurat and effectively usurping power to create a new 'Scourge' so to speak. Still, it is unite probable that in the end, good will triumph and blah blah blah. . .

Regardless, this problem seems to be lingering for some time now, and we should start taking action instead of talking only. There really isn't any point in pointing fingers anymore because. . .

You know people don't add Brutal Honesty in their topics for the same reason you don't wear meat when swimming with sharks, you'll get bit. To be honest, I'm not going to end anything I say with "But I love you guys" Because so far most gm's that talk to me want to give me a root canal. I'm also speaking with an attitude because you can't spell Brutal without "Bru".

First, and, mostly all...Look at you all, I fell asleep for 1 night and you've all fallen in to chaos. I've had too many bad experiences on the GM's to have a good opinion that won't get me banned and abused in PM's. But remember back in the day? Back, Back in the day, when it was all away from Booty Bay and people were happy and Drama, barely there. The Gm's and the players have all changed, for better or for worse, and you'd have to be an -idiot- to ask teenagers for Brutal Honesty.

If you want my Brutal Honesty? Who ever likes drama gtfo, GM, or Player.
I would hold more events, like I used too. I love holding events, having a storyline going; even if slightly deviant from the major parts of lore. I have always loved it, but from some OOC bits of fury on my part, I have been restricting myself. Whether if it was out of disdain of things being brought up here.

I held events back during the time of the Sin'sholai, but not in Arathi, not in the fighting. I went other places; and looking back, GMs as Cressy said that wanted the story to keep going, wanted more Horde involvement. I nearly got involved myself.

Looking back on all my events. And the ones I want to hold in the future, I can agree with GMs having prestiges and the like if they need them for a storyline. Or having some odd NPC like character for a storyline, say a dragon or something. But remember it would be for an exact storyline.

I would on a normal "Brutally Honest Brutal Honesty Moment of Brutality" say many, many dreadfully horrible things about certain people and events surrounding the GM team. But I plan on being a civil as humanly possible, this is as far as I will dwindle into my deepest complaints out of respect of the conversation at hand.

I would believe that despite the lack of "Gm storylines" the players, as I have, can make an effort to make some forms of change on our own in that department. I have had plenty of event holding expierence and I know, it takes a group of players and someone to tell a story. It does not need a special brand of GM on every page to make it fun for everyone there.

There are no 'happy drama free days'. Drama exists in everything. Everything. COTH, or any rp server for that manner, is -rife- with drama no matter how good things are. That isn't a bad thing. It's just a -thing-.

COTH isn't in a rut right now because of Drama, it's because of apathy.

No GM has shown to be upset by these comments for being 'brutally honest'. I'm personally upset because they're either spammy or disrespectful. (Disrespectful =/= Brutally Honest)
Oh for the love of god Clovis, what happened to you? You used to be so fun loving and nice, now every post in this thread is like Darth Vader. There -are- happy free drama days, I've seen them, sure not totally free, but majorily free.
What is asked for is veracity without the taint of hesitation for other's feelings.

As so many threads were noting before the flood of rage and critical mumblings we all gave a mindless nod to...

Why don't you do something?

What we're missing is someone who has the charisma, vision, and will to lead something worth joining. If only that individual, should he exist, were to stand up and put his contrivance to use, all this other petty nonsense would disperse into the triviality it ultimately is.

...But such is idealistic rabble, I suppose, for I know people are trying out there.

Just... They're getting drowned out and getting stopped before they've started.

I don't know what to do about that, and though I know it's wrong to complain without offering a solution...

...Nnmgh. I hope my nattering was at least marginally constructive.

As for Clovis' current, glowering demeanor, Jack?

He's frustrated. He's pissed. He's fed up. He's not going to stand back anymore.

He's putting on his smitadin helmet and marching off to war with what he sees wrong with CotH.

The only problem is that even he doesn't know what right is for our fair server's venomous predicament.
Brutally Honest = The Truth Hurts, my friend. The truth will hurt, just like being brutally honest = brutally truthful. It's just how you take it, on your end.
